Portland, Seattle, and Minneapolis are post apocalyptic wastelands. Chicago is full of crime and guns. All the California cities are homeless encampments for illegal immigrants, plus "it's California and you know what those people are like.". Nashville is too hard to get to, Dallas is one giant strip mall, and now Philadelphia makes it onto the list.
So lets hear what's wrong with New York, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, and Phoenix.
It's a very astute observation that describes the opinions of many. I've lived in a lot of places, and my personal opinion is that there are good places to live in almost every major metro area. If one's perspective is derived from living in a rural town somewhere, like mine was, I can totally understand why he/she would think if you live in Philly, you have to live in all of Philly. The truth is you don't. Hell, even Cleveland has really nice neighborhoods that you wouldn't have to leave 90% of the time. All big cities have bad parts. The bad parts are what sell news stories, so they get the focus.
All rural states do also. Including Montana.
