Cliff commits

1. Congrats and good luck to Cliff. Appreciate his efforts this last year.

2. Did he really trademark his name or did he just update his x handle? I don’t think it’s as lucrative as some would lead him to believe. Even if he leads Temple to an undefeated season. Who was Liberty’s qb last season?

3. Not calling for a natty this time around? Just purpose cups? There’s a 12 team playoff why not shoot for the moon.

4. We don’t even hide NIL anymore. The TUFF fund is a collective that is not part of the university. Interesting that they’d use that for their official athletics layouts and hashtags.

5. Committed shouldn’t even be a part of the vocabulary anymore. Maybe just signed to play for the upcoming season should suffice.

6. Maybe he could pick a new slogan. The keep stacking doesn’t apply since he’s starting at ground zero and Temple was 3-7 last year. Unless he’s applying as a motivator like Gunnery Sgt. Hartman from Full Metal Jacket when he asked how tall a recruit was.

"Temple TUFF" is something they have said there forever, like we had DOLA. You're totally right that it is the name of their NIL, but I think that they used "TUFF" for that because it is also their long term slogan.

I wouldn't wish a year in Philadelphia on anyone.

Knock 'em dead Cliff.

huh? we must've visited different parts of Philly. I have always found it a fun place to go, other than the stupid Pennsylvania liquor laws!
There are numerous parts of Philadelphia in which you don't want to be. Temple and Drexell are in awful areas.

Temple campus is in the middle of an urban slum. Stadium is a joke compared to our stadium. Wish ya well Cliff. You done good at U of M.
Sarcasm?
They play their home games at Lincoln Financial.

Temple plays at Lincoln financial stadium, so to you wa-griz stadium is nicer than half of all the current NFL stadiums?

An empty NFL stadium is better than a packed out WaGriz? Doubtful.

Yada Yada Yada. Bill Cosby went to Temple. Bill Cosby played Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show. Now Cliff McDowell is going there? Pure destiny!

Thinking McDowell has a lot better character than Cosby. He was funny until he wasn't.

You really know how to pick 'em, Cliffy.

Reality of the situation is, any FBS team, no matter the quality is viewed as way better than the fcs. To almost everyone that's not a fan of an fcs team. NFL views it the same. They play better competition, period.

I’ll say this: Clif wanted to go to a different program to play football. He did just that. It’s not my place to criticize the decision, because I don’t have a clue what went into it. I hope he kills it at Temple and brings them up like he did for us. If anyone wants to act like he wasn’t the catalyst, I respectfully disagree with you.

I think they were just making a point that Temple plays in a very nice stadium.

Well, I'm a fan of an FCS team, could care less about the NFL, and other than the cream of the cream Power 5 teams, the rest just bore the sh*t out of me. Montana born and bred. Go Griz! :thumb:

Seems like they average about 13,000 for attendance at home games. Probably seems like 5,000 in a stadium like that.

This is the long and short of it. We can say we don’t care about FBS bowl games. We can say it’s just a popularity contest. We can say it’s better to play playoff games that are only on streaming services. The fact is that FBS is viewed as a higher level of CFB because it simply is. It’s better as a whole. Stating that doesn’t make anyone less of a Griz fan; it just makes him or her correct.

No argument here. FBS is a tier up. Something to ponder though. Would you rather play better teams with less talent and get your rump kicked on a weekly basis at FBS OR play less competitive teams and have a higher win total week in and out at FCS? One has bowl games. One has playoffs where you finally work your way into the cream of the division. I ask because Temple might not even be a top 10 FCS team. Yet, they play with the big boys. I don’t care what anyone says, playing without the opportunity to be in the playoffs and win it all - seems silly. What other sport plays to end the season in some crappy bowl game? There may be other sports, I just don’t know what they are. Golf? Nope. Not even there. Rodeo? Doubt it. I wish college teams would abandon the NCAA and form tiered leagues. Have playoffs based on the tiers and then younger people would be more vested in the sport. The current system is nonsensical.
