That’s been going on for 20+years, so you have to expect it, right?
Classless to hear it every game. Can’t you expect better? Right?

You can expect all you want. I’m just saying you know you’re going to hear it. Just like I know, if I sit in certain sections of wa-griz I’ll hear “bobcats suck” after every first down...even during non cat-griz games. It doesn’t bother me, it is what it is.

Life’s too short to get riled up about silly stuff like that.

Never heard it in many years as a season ticket holder other than at cat Griz. The streak had a negative affect on your fan base. Embarrassing.

If you haven't heard it, you just aren't in the right spots. Happens in both stadiums by both fan bases. I've been yelled at by griz fans. I also had a man sitting next to me shake my hand and wish us luck when he left 5 minutes from the end of a game in which we were beating the griz in Missoula. Bet you didn't know a fan threw excriment at the Bobcat players in WA/gz stadium last year. That comes from a players mom. So both teams have sh!tty fans. But like Remax said, 95% of the fans are good-natured about the rivalry. Well, probably more like 94.9% of griz fans and 95.1% of Cat fans.....

If you ran into me after the game, I was wishing complete strangers safe travels and shaking hands. I will admit, I did try to steal some little griz coeds' twisted tea out of the sixer she was carrying. We were walking into the game and she was in front of me so I tried to be all stealth like and grab one from behind. The tea, not a cheek you dirty people! But I wanted to get caught, so I grabbed the one that her finger was touching. Then we laughed and went into the game.

I'd say we were in different places. The bobcat fans shouted eat shit grizzlies from the start of the game until half way through the fourth quarter. It was really unfortunate and classless.

Is that a thing after the first down chant? 25 years of going to games in WA Griz, I can't recall ever hearing that, even in the student section. Definitely never at a non-Cat's game. I call BS.

I was watching on TV. At the end of the game you could hear the entire stadium chanting that eat shit grizzlies chant. Also they played that song over the stadium loudspeakers that they know entices the crowd to start that chant. Absolutely classless move. And I've never heard anyone in Wa-Griz describe what your saying about "bobcats suck" after every first down. I call BS on that as well. I've never heard chant or anything about the cats when we are playing someone else. during cat-griz i'd believe you but not at any other game.

Same. I've sat all over the stadium over the years and have never heard a single person say that, even during the Brawl.

Maybe it's just the one section then. I was at the Weber game last week and after every firrrrst doowwn MONTANA, the group yelled out "move the chains, move the chains Bobcats SUCK!" I also heard it down in the south end zone last year during the cat/griz game so I just figured it was a thing in all sections.

Like I said, I don't care, it didn't bother me one bit....I say keep doing it.

I just don't have a problem with the crowd getting into a rivalry game, on either side. Be boring if everyone softly applauded, quietly said "go team", and reached for their knitting gear.

Might just be me.

Finally!

It wouldn't be Cat/griz if there wasn't a thread talking about class and how nothing bad EVER happens in their stadium; just the other guys!

I was getting a bit worried there....

The ESGGCC chant was fine when it was a random chant started my the student section, sort of how the Montana Grizzlies chant used to be started by the fans and not the cheerleaders. But now that has become a genuine part of the MSU school song, I would be disappointed if I were an alum. If you're over the age of 30, then IMHO, you should believe your school song to be sacred. But now that the fans, and no it's not just the students, it's much of the stadium, do it during the school song, that's something I wouldn't like if I was an alum of MSU, and I was on the field Saturday and I know for a FACT Waded was bothered by it, and she asked multiple people if she thought it was being picked up by Root microphones. Like I said, I've been going to Cat-Griz games for a long ass time in Bobcat Stadium, and none of that has ever bothered me. I've always said that I don't understand the chant during a game against Portland State in September, and I don't understand the people from Great Falls or wherever that burn a Grizzly bear in effigy EVERY game, but for the Cat-Griz game, none of that bothers me, and I've always had nothing but fun in Bozeman, and have never experienced the horrors other Griz fans say. But, I will say, the fact that chant is now an official part of the school song, I think that's concerning, and I know MSU people are concerned about too.

Well said. I agree completely. Yes it wasn't just the student section it was the whole damn stadium. And yes the root sports microphones were definitely picking it up. And yes they played that song over the loudspeakers that entices the crowd to sing the chant even more. The choice to play that song is an administrative one, and they know damn well what they were doing. Our president was there, experiencing that, and I guarantee he doesn't want that going on at Wa-griz. It speaks volumes to win with class, act like you've been there before. The bitterness from a streak that was decades ago has only grown, and it's grown into something ugly. There are idiots on both sides for sure, and I know bad stuff happens in WA-girz, but usually in wa-griz it's isolated to a few pockets of idiocy. This was the entire stadium chanting this. Whether they realize it or not its an ugly reflection of their fan base and it's taking away from a good football team that clearly deserved to win on Saturday.

The day they stop storming the field after a win against us and doing that classless chant, will be the day they stop being our little brother. Unfortunately for them, I don't see them stopping that anytime soon. They might not agree with it but It's just the honest truth.

I'm sure many Cat fans ARE concerned about it. Of course the president of our university doesn't love it. Most Cat fans think the bear burning thing and Griz chants throughout the season are stupid. What do you do about it? Are they going to kick everyone out? I just don't understand worrying so much about little sayings and songs when there are way worse things happening that should never be tolerated anywhere.

We had a player literally get shit thrown at him last year. I don't think that reflects on the griz fan base as my experience is always great. But in my mind, instances like that are far more concerning than fans yelling FTC or ESG.

But yes, I have no doubt that as much as I and a lot of others enjoyed the celebration Saturday, there were probably plenty who hated it. And Cat Fans should remember this because it's only a matter of time before the Griz beat us again and they're players and fans won't forget these last four years.

Round and round we go....

ILTC, I'm not going around with Cat fans at all, and FTR, none of that stuff matters, the Cats kicked the s--t out of the Griz and would have even if the chant didn't occur. I'm not even talking specifically about the chant itself. I'm talking about what it's become. I'm talking about MSU's school song. That's it. The rest of it, all the rest of you guys can fight about.

Also, the poop throwing thing, the Cat parent who said on FB also claimed she had physical evidence of it. MPD asked her for it, and they never got it. What are they or the university supposed to do about it at that point?

Nothing at all honestly. That wasn't my point. All I was saying is there is much bigger fish to fry in this game in my opinion. And fans singing Mony Mony after the game and yelling ESG, while not totally awesome, is really nothing in my opinion.

As for the fans rushing the field, chanting ESG after beating the Griz. I can see why that bothers Griz fans. But it seems harmless enough so I don't see what the big deal is. However, some of the "tough guy" students I saw talking to Griz players as they were walking off the field was unacceptable. Frankly if I was one of those players I might have done something about that. And like all things in life, as long as there are Cat fans who know how much Mony Mony and rushing the field after wins bother Griz fans, it won't stop.

I get what you're saying. I was on the wrong side of that for 16 years. Saw and heard lots of stuff. Usually hated it. I just think people worry way too much about the little stuff. I read way worse stuff and hear way more trash talking on these boards than I usually do in the game.

My sense of morality isn't offended by the chant. Rather, my intelligence is offended by it, simply because it's so fucking stupid. There were 40 year olds at Pub 85 yelling esg on Saturday. Seriously, what the fuck does it even mean?

It’s not the chanting that bothers me, it’s the haunch lifting and ripping of filthy wet phatties in kids’ faces, followed the the whole section cheering. My buddy confirms that this indeed happened.

Hey, you won't get an argument from me about that. Don't see it ever stopping. Either will FTG. Or FTC. Or Scats, kittens or jizz.

It's all petty and childish, much like these boards every day of the year. That's likely never going away either.

Laugh all you want, but my buddy is a player’s mom, and he has physical evidence of the phatty that he plans to share with the authorities.
