a year ago, i think there were several griz hoops fans scratching their heads at the lackluster performance and evident dissension inside our men's program, and wondering if maybe we didn't let the wrong guy get away when huse went to the bobcats. but now, thanks to the departures of several players and one assistant coach, followed by a stellar recruiting class and the hiring of bill evans, we hard-core few here are pretty much re-energized and eagerly anticipating the coming season.
meantime, i think the doubts are setting in at bozeman, where they've seen the resignations of two assistants, including the golden savior boy danny sprinkle, and the loss of several players plus coveted recruit tyler miller, all to the accompaniment of a recent thread on b.n., "is huse the problem?" i think it's way too early for panic in bozeman, but you get the feeling the changes that have taken place there the past year, especially the loss of sprinkle and miller, are not as positive as the sort we've seen in missoula.
but what jumped out at me was this quote from danny sprinkle, via an e-mail to our resident guru, mslacat:
"The last problem MSU has is Coach Huse. In my opinion he is the bright spot of that athletic dept right now."
wow! not high praise for the rest of the coaches over there. is there more to this story than meets the eye?
