This will either go over like a lead balloon or some may actually enjoy it.
OK Armchair Griz basketball coaches, time to put your money where your mouth is.
This is the situation Griz have only one open scholarship, and only one senior on the Squad. This leaves two scholarships open for next year, But Kysco. Have signed three players for next year already. These three high school student are Guaranteed by NCAA rule their scholarship. That means at least one of the existing rostered (or redshirt Hasquet) player will have to be "let go". Furthermore if Chavez becomes eligible a player may have to be "let go" if Kysco chooses to give him back his scholarship. And Finally from what I am hearing Kysco is still involved with a few JC and high school big men prospects, and for every player he signs that means another player roster player will not be back.
You are the coach: If you have the hustpa to, Given this situation what would you do. Be the coach, and make the tough decision. and name names and reasons. At a bare minimum you could say I am not recruiting any more players, If Chavez comes he must walk-on to play, and this is the player I would cut and here is why. The whole other route would be to cut list players to be cut and replace them with these high school or JC type players. Now remember though you cannot always go cutting the weakest players if you do not have players to play that position.
I will give this a shot, a little later.
