Chadron State @ Montana State Game Thread

Why do we have six pages dedicated to the cats and their DII opponent????

Because it was a big deal. It's exciting to see MSU work to elevate its football program up to UM's standards.

This is good for both programs. You could very easily argue that MSU's football program has been holding UM's program back to a certain degree. The two are tied together whether Griz or Cat fans want to acknowledge it.

There's no denying they put together an impressive atmosphere. I wasn't able to watch the game, but stats indicate it was par for the course. If MSU is going to live up to it's lofty goals they certainly need to win these games, and they did that and then some. Last night was more a testament to where the program has come in the last decade than the potential the Cat's hold; Chadron simply was no kind of measuring stick. That said I expect a very competitive MSU squad with a lot of self-confidence. Tomorrow should be slightly more telling with the Griz unless USD is really bad.

So there's a whole lot of what you already knew. Hopefully this marginally supports your position on why there are so many pages about the Cat's in the forums about both Grizzly AND FCS football.

Sidenote: Playing EWU away this year brings me no comfort. I think I'd rather go to Bozeman.

Ditto. PR should stick to justifying and excusing the criminal activity of Griz players... He's much better at those types of discussions.

To all the fans criticizing how the cats looked last night... I will be on here after your game to point out hiw shitty you looked after your first game... And trust me, there will be parts of your game tomorrow that absolutely look shitty. Just be careful not to piss away the game...

So wait your saying the cats were the best team you’ve ever seen ever play  WoW must of seen something I didn’t

I think most Griz fans in this thread were only bringing up some of the concerns that we saw last night. And they're valid concerns. I'm absolutely positive we'll have some glaring, valid concerns after the USD game too, win or lose.

And to be honest, it's basically just doebrmn being a colossal tool, trying to pick fights with Griz fans (again), and Griz fans all too eager to egg him on.

Some Griz fans are being A-holes, sure. But most are simply pointing out:
- You need to get your O-Line working better and improving. DI defenses won't let DM run around all night and hit his WR and RB in the flat who were always wide open. You've got coach Mac, so I'm thinking they'll improve a bunch.
- Your WRs can't be dropping passes like that. Too many 3 and outs. I figure when you open up the playbook, it will get better.
- Your special teams needs a bit of work. They're going to win (or lose) you some games this year, especially if they don't get things figured out.

Those are big concerns, and could really hamper your season if they don't get ironed out. (I didn't add the problem with DM's long passes. We know he can sling it. He'll get it worked out for sure. That's not going to be an issue)

That's not even close to saying you're going to suck. I don't want the Cats to suck. I want you to be 10-0 when we kick your ass this year. :thumb:

Geez. With all this shitting and pissing going on, I just hope there's a Dane Fletcher porta potty near by....

And once again we have a stellar Griz fan with the intellect of a gnat. Griz fans raise a bunch of stupid arguments about how last nights game will dictate that the Cats have a terrible season. When it is pointed out WITH FACTS that the Griz had basically the same game against DII W. Oregon last year (although in week ten) and still went on to have a great season, the only come back is from the idiot Griz fans that the Griz beat the Cats last year. Great argument moron. The point of the discussion is whether last nights game will dictate the season and the answer is no. Again, do the Cats have some weaknesses that need work (especially the O-line) yes. What, do you think they didn't realize that going into the season. That is why they brought in two JC O-Line that haven't had an opportunity yet and are still working with a lot of young kids. Will they come together, get better, and make a good line. Only time will tell. But you sure as H&ll can't tell if from one game as demonstrated by trying to do the same thing with the Griz game against W. Oregon last year.

Oh, and BTW, I can guarantee the scene two years ago at Wash-Griz stadium (of which I was an eye witness) was much worse than at Bozeman last year. The Griz fans are the biggest bunch of cry baby fans I have ever been around. And the sad part, rather than give any credit to the opposing team, they turn on their own team. Basically, the most pathetic fan base in the BSC (and of course, that is not the majority of Griz fans...but the minority dip sh*t fans really cast a tall shadow over the whole fan base).

The scene in Bozo last year was pretty damn sad. Get off your high horse and realize that no fan base is gonna be happy about losing to a rival at home. If you want to talk about ridiculous fan bases you should take a good hard look at yours. The last Cat game I was ever at (don't plan on going any time ever again) was Cats v PSU. Half way through the third quarter the student section and much of the crowd that actually showed up started chanting "f*ck the griz" randomly. Talk about a little brother complex. Many of the Cat fans I was around joined in and the few decent ones I was around just shook their head in dismay. I went to school over there and hated almost every second of it. The uber elite attitude that everyone carries in that town regarding the cats is ridiculous. I loved every second of last year when you guys ate your words after you had been talking all year about a changing of the guard and we mopped the floor with you for 4 quarters. Remember you're the one getting all butt hurt about us pointing out serious flaws in your team that you will have to address if you wish to have a successful season. So cool your jets, ignore the trolls and actually try to have a conversation :thumb:

Wow did you catch your wife in bed with a Griz fan or what?? Talk about a crybaby sourpuss little Mo Fo'er

That was the point, trying to have a conversation about football. Instead the thread turned into nothing but stupid comments from Griz fans stating that because the Cats didn't beat Chadron State by 400 points it was obvious that their season was over. When I pointed out the FACTS by comparing it to the Griz win over W.Oregon last year and why one game doesn't dictate a season (afterall, I seem to remember that the Griz had a pretty good season last year) the only CONVERSATION was dipsh*t Griz fans bleating on about Cat/Griz last year which HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS YEAR. But yeah, continue the personal attacks because you can't hold up a real conversation about football.

I love that you guys hold these beautiful double standards. When you guys beat us its all we hear about for a year+. It's in every conversation. But when we beat you and even mention the game from the previous year you lose it. You guys are the ones that have built up your team to this god like status in your heads and when the serious flaws are found you start dragging up all this nitpicky crap from the past. So please continue to draw comparisons between the two games. And we will continue to remind you of how much smack you talked last year and how we subsequently beat you.

It is amazing how Griz fans try to revise history. Against Western Oregon last year with a veteran O-Line in week 10 of the season the Griz didn't score a TD in the first half, led 6-0 after the 1st and 12-0 at half. Yet according to the Griz the Cats were terrible because they were ahead only 6-3 after one and 19-3 at half (which should have been 21-3 but had 2 PAT blocked using the second team snapper and second team kicker). Then we have to listen to how terrible the O-line is because it was manhandled by a DII school. Yet, again, in week 10 with a veteran O-line the Griz averaged 4.6 ypc against a DII school while the Cats averaged 4.9 ypc with a an O-Line that has 4 new starters in the first game of the season.

Again, not saying there are not weaknesses that need to be addressed and there is plenty to worry about as there is with every team playing its first game. But really, its not only time to take off the maroon tinted glasses it is time for some Griz fans to pull their heads out of their A&&.

BTW, I question whether most of the fans on here even actually watched the game. Chadron State's DL avg. 271.67 LB (including a U of Nebraska transfer). The Griz strating DL avg. 271.75 LB. I wouldn't take anything away from Chadron's DL (or O-line). If it is one thing that Nebraska is famous for producing it is good OLineman and DLineman.

You forgot to mention the good ones aren't playing for CSU.

Just remember doebrmn, this was a discussion started by Griz fans on the Griz board. It's not like AE came trolling over on kitty nation. Obviously we are probably gonna be a little more critical of our rival team than you care to hear.

Do you actually think that you will have a good season if you don't start catching passes and your O-Line shapes up? Cuz you're sure getting bent out of shape for us saying anything about it...

NO, No you couldn't. MSU's football "success" or lack there of, has nothing to do with Montana. Except for you who claim to be a "Griz Basketball Fan"   Which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Montana State is not Montana, they are Montana's cousin they want no part of.

Boise State walked out on Idaho with both middle fingers in the air, this is what Montana should do to State. What a joke.

Maybe it's just that you don't like hearing that the same problems seen in the kitten team at the end of last year seem to be even bigger problems at the beginning of this year. Poor line play and to many 3 and outs with little to no depth in the trenches against a DII

The state college team has 3 or 4 ok skill players and little more. Once again, the coach, players and fans seemed to be focused on the #1 for a week accomplishment of last year. :thumb:

I'm just able to have enough perspective and respect to root for both programs. And I've been lucky enough to spend enjoyable stints in both places.

I am truly sorry that more people (on both sides) haven't been able to see the beauty of both places. They are two of the best places in Montana - and two of my favorites of anywhere I've been. I fail to see how it is dumb to be in this position. I see it as rather fortunate.

If I could pick one place in the world to live, it would be Missoula. My time there was amazing. I'm also loyal to my alma mater and thoroughly enjoyed my college days in Bozeman. I follow and pull for both schools fairly equally. I lean toward the Cats in football, and the Griz in basketball. Again, I'm truly sorry that more people can't grasp this possibility. I see it as a blessing to have these experiences.
