Chadron State @ Montana State Game Thread

So, it sounds like the cats are going to need a Costco-sized order of HGH in order to compete this season??

observations:

--Denarius is the real deal and scary good to contain
--Minter will give all opponents trouble
--O. Davis will be a load and will start over Kirk...as long as he keeps his grades up, or else the NCAA will be all over him again and he gets sent back to a CC in Colorado to work on GPA's and the real stuff of life.
--GRIZ will crush the Cats in November
--McGee will be lucky to survive to mid-season without an unjury from an ugly O line.

It was the first game, the cats will be ok. The Griz will give fans plenty to stress over saturday as well.
Important thing is both teams will have game film and a better idea of what to work on.
Week two both teams step it up a notch in terms of teams they face and the execution and play will aslo improve.

This seems pretty spot on IMO. These games are tough though because the better team usually plays to the level of their competition and Chadron was slightly better than if the Cats had scheduled Bozeman High. I would like to see the Cats play a good team to see what they really look like.

It is amazing how Griz fans try to revise history. Against Western Oregon last year with a veteran O-Line in week 10 of the season the Griz didn't score a TD in the first half, led 6-0 after the 1st and 12-0 at half. Yet according to the Griz the Cats were terrible because they were ahead only 6-3 after one and 19-3 at half (which should have been 21-3 but had 2 PAT blocked using the second team snapper and second team kicker). Then we have to listen to how terrible the O-line is because it was manhandled by a DII school. Yet, again, in week 10 with a veteran O-line the Griz averaged 4.6 ypc against a DII school while the Cats averaged 4.9 ypc with a an O-Line that has 4 new starters in the first game of the season.

Again, not saying there are not weaknesses that need to be addressed and there is plenty to worry about as there is with every team playing its first game. But really, its not only time to take off the maroon tinted glasses it is time for some Griz fans to pull their heads out of their A&&.

BTW, I question whether most of the fans on here even actually watched the game. Chadron State's DL avg. 271.67 LB (including a U of Nebraska transfer). The Griz strating DL avg. 271.75 LB. I wouldn't take anything away from Chadron's DL (or O-line). If it is one thing that Nebraska is famous for producing it is good OLineman and DLineman.

The first game of the season is always a tough one to really analyze because there's the jitters of the first game and they guys playing against an uncommon opponent for the first time since last fall. DM sure looks like he will be a force this year as will the MSU rushing attack though.

I would be willing to bet that after tomorrow there will be some jitters on our side as well about some shaky play that is pretty typical of 1st games in the season. Lets see how both teams are looking 3-4 weeks into the season.

Pretty much my assessment. Some good, some not so good....typical first game. OL got better as the game went on. Kicking game will be a rollercoaster ride.

Great crowd. Not a lot of big plays or attempted big plays, which made for a bit of a boring game.

Perfect night for a game.

It's very easy to find alot of negatives when that is all your looking for.

Trust me I went there looking for attractive co-eds. I don't know if its cause I'm getting older but the talent looked much better this year.

Get out of here. The Cats looked pretty good? No way. The Cats looked pretty weak. Chadron isn't very good. It was 6-3 Cats after the first quarter. Glad the Cats were able to "get some revenge" against Chadron. This is the no. 4 team in the nation? Under the lights? Sellout crowd? Looked sorta embarrassing to me. The Cats are going nowhere this year, unless they got alot better than this.

The night game was big. Over 20,000 in attendance? The night game buzz? That was great. Any Griz fan who doesn't have enough perspective to see how this is good for college football in the state of Montana is just being short-sighted.

The cats had a ton of short field possessions which allowed them to run up the score. DM had an advantage of throwing short passes to wide open receivers because of Chadron's week secondary. When it came time to go deep or thread the ball in DM was not impressive at all. The cat o line is not up to Big Sky Conference caliber and their defense is likely to get owned late in the game by the much bigger and stronger o lines. That is classic cat d line. All in all it was an interesting first game for the cats but it showed they need a lot of work and they are not a top 5 team nationally. They may be capable of winning a national title but that would be in Div II.

Don't judge...

Alpha let me get a picture with him and his lady.

P.S. Look at that fatty in the background on the billboard.

I thought dm looked good but won't have the luxury of playin around in the pocket against a stronger and faster defensive front. They did what they needed to do to start the season and it seemed to energize they're fan base(about time). My guess is that the only offensive lineman for the cats that might start for the Griz is sampson(center). As time rolls on it we will see how they react to other than mediocre teams. They have a tough stretch with Southern Utah, UC Davis (back to back road games) and then Eastern. I think that will define the cats. Personally I thought the defense was good, special teams sucked, and the offense was vanilla. Nothing more than a glorified scrum in a good atmoshere where nobody got hurt. All in all a good start for the cats but no wow factors. :|
Go Griz!!

So I went to the game.

First: The guy in the Griz shirt was probably Alpha. I think throughout the day I saw about 4-5 people wearing Griz gear. I brought mine up but after hearing crap the whole trip up I switched to a yellow shirt. I now regret it as I received grief from my Griz friends.

I will never let you live this poor decision down. Of all of the "bad" decisions you have made since I have known you this is at the top of the list. Grow a pair would you.............

:coffee:

Now excuse me while I go take a piss inside Dane Fletcher.

WHY would you do this to former players?

WOW...!!!! What the hell is wrong with the people at Bozeman College? That is...well, I don't know what that is? I'm at a loss of words.

Players pictures on the crappers...? Are they trying to tell us something?

LMAO
:D

Go Griz!
