Very well put.
I couldn't agree more.

Says the kid on the team with less Montana players, ...self proclaimed "montana team"...lol, you guys are so deluded. Carry on :coffee:

Montana is the name of his school and also the state in which he grew up. By the way, what was the score of the Griz Cat game again this year? That is right 54-35 The Griz. I believe the year before was 34-7. I wouldn't be so cocky considering those results. But hey, at least you had a few more native MT kids on your roster.

Just a guess, but the team with the most Montana players is probably like UM northern or rocky. Maybe tech or carroll? I didn't know that was a qualification for being a better fan or team? Does Notre Dame have the most Indiana players? Wait, they don't "proclaim" to be to be an Indianian team. Wyoming? I know, NDSU? I hear many of them are from MN? Someone has stats on the most players from the state on the team they play for, and how much better their fan base is.

Having more success at football doesn't make you more "montana". The kids who play at Alabama are good at football and they aren't from Montana. One would assume that the football team that supports the most Montana kids would definitely be the "Montana" school. Of course this train of thought is based in reality, and doesn't reflect the fanaticism and emotions of crazy fans. :thumb:

Likely the "football team that supports the most Montana kids" isn't either UM or MSU. However, one could argue Bozeman has become the less "montana" city.

Perhaps we can stipulate that you can keep thinking Bozeman State is the "Montana School", and everyone else (and I do mean everyone) with a working brain can keep thinking that The University of Montana is the "Montana School." It's a very silly debate otherwise.

TG and Bob Stitt was an uneasy peace from Day One.He was not one of Stitt's guys. Stitt probably kept TG on staff because somebody asked him too. There was obviously some season long tension. Ty knew he was on the "outside looking in". He jumped at a fresh opportunity at MSU. For self preservation purposes, I can't say that I blame him......

This is the sane perspective. No need to bash Ty OR Stitt. It's just a matter of comfort. But man, did the entertainment value of Griz - Scat games go up even more - who would have thought that was possible! It's going to be awesome watching these guys go after each other on the field. It will be decidedly less awesome if Ty comes out on top, of course, but you just can't beat this twist. GET THE POPCORN READY!

I choose to think the program that continues to place the state of montana on the map by being the flagship of our great state by having multiple appearances on espn and deep playoff runs not to mention ncaa tourny appearance is the correct rep for our state!

We need to put the best possible talent on the field, similar to what men's hoops is trying to build. Montana athletes have plenty of options, depending on their talent, but let's build flagship schools (I like that) that will entice the best Montana athletes to stay!

How bout we just put the best product on the field who cares where they are from? If you wanna watch only instate kids play go watch Frontier League ball, i'm a Montana guy myself and I generally cheer for the local guys to succeed but sheesh let it die already. We are Montana because we beat them year after year thats why!

The in-state argument is such bullshit.....I am all for Montana kids playing, but not at the expense of better non-Montana kids....so many people get caught up in the number of Montana kids.....but it should be more about quality than quantity....I even feel that many really over estimate the abilities of Montana kids....and this doesn't mean there are not Montana kids that can play FCS football.....just not as many as people want to believe....

Amen! Our best players USUALLY are Montana kids, but I agree completely quality over quantity. For every Mariani, Anderson, etc are lots that didn't pan out. Put the best product you possibly can on the field no matter where they are from.

Both programs were built off of Montana kids. It is part of both schools traditions. The national championships for both schools have been won because of great Montana players. The contributions of Montana kids on these rosters are endless. Bobby Hauck prided himself on recruiting the best Montana kids every year. I do agree that some do over-estimate the abilities of Montana kids. However, the biggest thing I took away when I broke down the recruiting battle since 2010, both schools have under-estimated the ability and heart of A LOT of Montana kids. You have to agree with me on that final point at the least.

NDSU has 18 kids from North Dakota.....that is less than 4 per year based on 5 year recruiting cycle.....why do they win championships....because they get the best athletes they can.....not the most North Dakota kids.....the best North Dakota kids....

I agree with this and I still want us to get the best in the state obviously, however I think some people put to much stock into the numbers of kids and where they are from. I get it though, i generally cheer for the Billings kids myself.

I agree. It is about getting the best kids and my breakdown proved it has been a push the last six years between the schools. All I'm saying is that the evaluation of talent out of Montana has not been an easy one the last 10 or so years for both schools.
