not sure it is a huge surprise that TG moved on for multiple reasons....
I agree - I think it was after the Weber State loss when Stitt said the defense needed to be able to shut out teams like WSU, then it was clear there was chemistry issues. Add in Gregorak's wife in Bozeman, and Choate's FBS experience and contacts and this move makes a lot of sense for Gregorak. I thought Gregorak was a good coach, but I am also excited to have the Head Coach and D-Coordinator on the same page.

If he thinks the cat job is a stepping stone to bigger and better...wow, talk about a lack of judgment.

Actually, not so far-fetched as you seem to think...

Tell us the route to bigger and better. Wasn't hired at UM for HC job. Stayed on with Stitt. Tension for obvious reasons. Stitt coached around him. Ty goes to state. State does not have - and will not produce a defense better than the Griz. Helps Ty how?

And then he noted how much he loved everyone & everything in Zootown, and perhaps when Stitt moves on... Yeah... Like that will ever happen.

It looks like the Great Innovator has lost his best coach to the enemy....hmmm, maybe Ty he's sees the handwriting on the wall.....bottom line he's not going to work for a DII coach with a smart ass attitude. He must be wanting to try his luck at a FBS gig in a couple of years.....Choate looks like a pretty sure bet. Not to worry egriz.....you still got PR & Hammer, Ty's biggest paramours!!!

If Ty can muster up any type of defense it will be a positive for him. Now look whom Choate has coached with and the ties he has that TG may be able to take advantage of. And the big one, being DC for a team with Stitt's offensive philosophy will never look great for a resume, especially with an inexperienced group of players returning. Stitt's offense puts more pressure on the defense than what Choate will do in Bozo. I am not saying it will work that way for TG...but I do see some definite reasons for the move...also that him and Stitt did not see eye-to-eye and TG was expendable as far as Stitt was concerned...

So you want them both to be DII.....

I'm not surprised Ty moved on but shit.....to the CATS? Dirty traitor bastard.(wink)

Does anyone think this could effect some of the defensive recruits?

I would assume one of the biggest hits on Gregorak leaving for the Cats is his connections to Montana and recruiting. If Stitt is going to "win the state" in recruiting he now gets an opportunity to build it his way!

you do realize that may not be really the case....

I understand thanking TG for his time at The UM, but WHY in the world would you congratulate your rival?

I see the connections piece, and know that is the key component to jobs in the fraternity...I'm not so sure Ty can get better tangible results or overall exposure with the cats. While connections matter....winning does as well...perhaps more. Ty could win in Missoula...not so sure about bozeman.

It's a smart career move for Ty. Choate has a lot more connections around the FBS, while Stitt has none. If Ty wants to progress, I think he would've been better off going to the FBS as a linebacker coach.
