I'm not surprised Ty moved on but shit.....to the CATS? Dirty traitor bastard.(wink)

Does anyone think this could effect some of the defensive recruits?

I don't think it's a problem, with recruit comments like this every year:

“The coaches don’t really have to say a lot, to tell you the truth,” Akem told HERO Sports this week, after learning of the addition of Jackson. “Missoula is a great college town, the environment is great. And I love the fans and the coaching staff and the people. It’s a great place to go to college and to play football. I knew that Coach Stitt was doing something special when they beat NDSU and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.”

Couldn't you say the major reason you guys made the playoffs this year was because the defense hung in there all season? I thought they played great against NDSU, regardless of the final score. Its not like Ty was given a full stable of defensive recruits the last few years. Just my opinion. You guys can't be completely happy about this?

Our defense was average at best..

This year at times but what about the prior two years?

We were ranked 39th last year and 56 the year before
I would rather see where we rank amongst teams from "power" FCS conferences...

Just another roster cut for Stitt. Griz are not making lateral moves. Making moves to win the conference, play December football in Montana, and win national championships.

Gregorak reached his peak. Descent follows.

Once a Griz, now a cat.

What?? They were his recruits No one to point the finger at but him if you think he didn't have a full stable.

It's a smart career move for Ty. Choate has a lot more connections around the FBS, while Stitt has none. If Ty wants to progress, I think he would've been better off going to the FBS as a linebacker coach.

I think Stitt has plenty of FBS connections in his rolodex... ;)

On the offensive side of the ball. If I'm hiring a defensive coach, I'm not valuing the opinion of an offensive coach that has nothing to do with the defense.

 you'll get over it Caleb. Pull up your big girl panties...
Says the guy who's apparently butthurt over a tweet from a college kid.

The writing was on the wall. Tye did not like Stitt and for good reason. IMO msu got the better of the deal. If Legi goes then the hole in ship gets bigger. I really feel bad for Kidder and co.

Fair enough. But, he is the head coach...and is responsible for the whole team...including the defense. He studies defenses for a living. You think he doesn't know the difference between a well-coached defense and one that is not. He's been a head coach for a long time.

I don't think it took him more than a nano-second to thank ty and move on.

Ty is and always will be the best linebackers coach the Griz have had in my opinion. As for his capabilities as a D coordinator, I always thought he was sufficient but his defenses lacked in scheme what they made up for with talent and desire. His guys play hard, but I thought after breske left that UM should have hired a proven coordinator. At this point, even after 4 years at the position, the jury is still out among Griz fans on TY and his capabilities as a coordinator.

I agree. I understand Stitt has contacts but they're just contacts...Choate has several contacts that he's actually coached with. Chris Peterson has a huge coaching tree that Choate is on. I don't think Stitt has a very big coaching tree.

This is a huge loss. He is a very classy guy and has huge connections within the state of Montana. We are going to get killed in recruiting. This is just another sign of our program heading in the wrong direction!

Some are posting on here as if Stitt let Ty go. Is that assumption? Or fact ?

Ty left on his own. I've known about this for over a week. I hope he was not out recruiting last week on our dime. If he was, it's bush league. We'll be fine without him.

Seriously Gregorak? WOW

I guess it's only fitting little brother gets our sloppy seconds.
See how Ty does with the bare cupboard @ mSU

It looks like the Great Innovator has lost his best coach to the enemy....hmmm, maybe Ty he's sees the handwriting on the wall.....bottom line he's not going to work for a DII coach with a smart ass attitude. He must be wanting to try his luck at a FBS gig in a couple of years.....Choate looks like a pretty sure bet. Not to worry egriz.....you still got PR & Hammer, Ty's biggest paramours!!!

Lookout world!!! The guy that barely played at western montana college (because of injury) is a Star!!!
