Central Ty Gregorak discussion thread

I wouldn't call him a brilliant X and Os guy and played frustratingly vanilla until this year (Semore effect?) What Gregorak can do though is get guys to play their ass off for him. A much bigger loss would be if he steals Coach Legi away from us.

Just another roster cut for Stitt. Griz are not making lateral moves. Making moves to win the conference, play December football in Montana, and win national championships.

Gregorak reached his peak. Descent follows.

Once a Griz, now a cat.

Couldn't you say the major reason you guys made the playoffs this year was because the defense hung in there all season? I thought they played great against NDSU, regardless of the final score. Its not like Ty was given a full stable of defensive recruits the last few years. Just my opinion. You guys can't be completely happy about this?

not sure it is a huge surprise that TG moved on for multiple reasons....
I agree - I think it was after the Weber State loss when Stitt said the defense needed to be able to shut out teams like WSU, then it was clear there was chemistry issues. Add in Gregorak's wife in Bozeman, and Choate's FBS experience and contacts and this move makes a lot of sense for Gregorak. I thought Gregorak was a good coach, but I am also excited to have the Head Coach and D-Coordinator on the same page.

This. Losing Legi would be huge.

If he thinks the cat job is a stepping stone to bigger and better...wow, talk about a lack of judgment.

So certainly we can expect some trick plays for G-C next season. Players made this guy look good. We'll likely see just how good he is with the tripe he's got to work with @ state ag & auto mechanics.

Buh-bye Ty.

It is what it is. Time to move on. Good luck to Ty.

GO GRIZ!!!

I agree with what you said. Good luck to Ty, just not against MONTANA.

And I agree with Kidder, we are MONTANA, they are not. MONTANA will continue to thrive.

On a more important note - everybody agrees I assume - 420 has really notched it up in the avatar department.

FTC. Many of us bitched about poor run D all year. Here Stitt makes a move to remedy that. Either way we crush the cats. Business as usual.

Actually, not so far-fetched as you seem to think...

I don't know if this ends up harming or helping the success of program. I do think Stitt wants to win championships and given how truly far we have been from doing so the past several years he probably feels that large, not small changes are needed. Stitt knows more about football than I do and I assume he feels Ty was not his guy to get us to the next level. We will have to see over the next one to two years what the results of this decision is. All the recent changes from Stitt are difficult decisions and hard on players and coaches but I think all involved, including fans, agree the goal is to be at the top of FCS and maybe these are the right decisions to get us headed there. I certainly hope so and wish the best to those leaving the program. Although I don't think I can truly hope Ty does great simply because of where he is going. :thumb:

Ty is a good guy and well liked by his players. It sucks to see him go to the cats for that reason. The worst part of all of this would be if Legi goes with him. The reason I say that is because Ty apparently DID NOT prepare the defensive game plans for the Griz this year. The defensive game plan was apparently prepared each week by another Griz defensive coach and given to Ty to implement. There was significant friction within the coaching staff because of this. It is also the reason that Ty was considered expendable despite being well-liked by his players.

Thanks to Ty for all of his contributions while with the Griz, and I wish his all the best in blozo except for when they play the Griz.

The Griz will certainly withstand this and will be a better team for it next year. I'm not sure the cats are getting the coach they think they are for the reason stated above.
