The main reason why I bumped this thread was because BIGsky33 wanted someone to quote him the the Griz wouldn't get the W and the cats would win on the smoldering garbage pile south of Spocompton.

Spin it how you want...I do find it comical though, that the same Beagles fans who come on here and INSIST that they figured out SHSU's offense last year and that's why they almost came back and beat them in the playoffs come on here and INSIST that the only reason the Griz almost came back was because "Baldwin took his foot off the gas".

Has little to do with run vs pass, but the plays being called. Especially on defense (prevent). Baldwin has essentially stated that he coached not to lose rather than continue what we had been doing all game.

That boldness was born two weeks ago in Missoula, when the Eagles nearly blew a 25-point fourth-quarter lead, partly because of conservative play-calling. “I was mad at myself because of the way I coached at Montana,” Baldwin said.
“It ends up being an attitude that we’re going to go for it,” Baldwin said.

And yet, both games resulted in an L, and outside of that any "what ifs" as to the outcome of those games is just pure conjecture. I do think that the EWU-SHSU game was a little different. EWU was down 35-Zip at the half, Adams comes in, throws 6 2nd half TD's, and our D holds them to only one offensive TD, but that was enough to do it - Adams simply ran out of time. The Eastern/Montana game was pretty even up until the 3rd quarter, and then UM scored a bunch of points in the 4th when it was probably too late for a serious chance to win the game.

I don't know if Baldwin took his foot off the pedal or what, versus UM. Initially I think that was the case, but then went back to the pass. I do think there was some apathy in the 4th quarter, but that is my opinion. Credit UM in adjusting their game plan to exploit some mis-matches that were evident late in the game when we were forced to play a walk-on true Freshman at Safety. It's not the only reason UM had success, but I am saying there were several reasons UM kept it relatively close and not just as simple "UM figured EWU out".
