If would think you Griz fans would more worried about your own coaches than the Bobcat head coach. Ash is doing just fine in building a stronger team each year. You have a head coach coming off a losing season and just one year left and the future unknown.
What makes you think UM fans and alumni aren't? We see a great recruiting season happening, but know we are stuck with the "leadership" that was so poor last year. The next season could be the greatest in UM history or not....we are still UM and you are still..whatever, "also rans"...Many of us cannot wait for Idaho to become the natural rival they were. MSU is a sad replacement, but usually a sure win...

I'll give the Griz some credit for recruiting some pretty dam good players this year....on paper anyway....the same can be said for the Cats!!! Of course it won't matter in 2013 though, since all but a couple will redshirt....I have a hard time believing that the stud H.S. DB's will replace Hermanson & Co. right away....if ever!! And the elephant in the room is the QB situation which is sketchy at best...a lot of very knowledgable Griz posters have stated that JJ will never take another snap!!! We shall see!!!

I also think we should find some common ground in paying particular attention to that EW outfit out of Cheney.....they have been and currently picking up some top notch recruits....for the life of me I can not understand why a kid would choose to go to school in that $#@*hole with the red turf....even with a 5-6 football team the social scene with some skanky hippie chicks would trump any college experience that the Havre-on-the-desert could claim!!!
Way to insult Havre.

You have money? Now, that is surprising. but you are still not a UM alum and that is priceless.

Special K, the last time I looked it takes 11 players to win a game. Yes Deanrius is a great player and leader but it still takes a team to get the job done. I give Coach Ash and his staff credit for finding and recruiting Denarius. He is an example of the stronger recruits he has broguht in each year. Ash has built a strong foundation. While we will miss Denarius we will be just fine.

You are deluding yourself thinking that Ash is bringing in better players. Your Texas connection was because of an assistant coach, who is long gone. You are salivating about winning the in-state recruiting war this season. Two things. This is a down year for Montana high school football, so the recruits you think are so great will not be so great. Second thing. Montana is having the best out of state recruiting season it has had in many years. These are better players than were available in Montana high schools this year.

Bottom line is, when Denarius leaves, the Cats will return to being the Cats, in their rightful place as pretenders to the dominance of the Montana Grizzlies program.

SK, you called that one right. This Cat poster is truly delusional. A couple good years by the Cats, and he thinks the Cats will be on top for years. Jeez, we heard the same thing from the Cats a year ago, and the Griz stomped the Cats. The Griz lose their qb, leaving no qb on the team who has completed the pass in college, and the Cats sneak by the Griz--and this joker thinks all is wonderful for the Cats. Yup, truly delusional.

Ash has Lost 85 Games he's coached.
He must be right at the top of the all time losing-est coach's at all levels in history?

Oh... and he tied in two other games.
Are you kittens declaring one of those ties as a national championship? :wtf:

Hey, I've lived in Havre and Spokane. Havre is a Garden of Eden compared to Cheney, and you can get a better education at Northern.

You guys suck... Deal with it. Or are you going to tell us that you were a way better team than the cats last year because you "almost" won several games?   I am not the least but worried about the Cat Griz game next year... EWU and NDSU are scary... The griz not so much.

I bet you were thinking the same thing heading into the 2011 season, no respect after a close win in missoula....then we proceed to wax your ass in the litter box the next season. I doubt that same outcome would shock any griz fan! All we can hope for is that your the over rated #1 team in the nation when it happens again.

You Griz fans are all delusional. You have the Cats coach that is 19th at all levels in the NCAA and you try to find every reason to dispell him. Do you know how stupid that makes you look. He is respected through out college football for what he has accomplished. Being the president of the American Football Coaches Association is super prestigious. UM has never had anyone of this caliber. Take all shots you want at the guy. His record and respect by all coaches in the NCAA speaks volumes. We are glad he is a Bobcat!

Montana is by FAR the winningest team in FCS history.

Like I've stated before, it's not surprising a few scat fans show up the first time the Griz have a losing season.
This signifies the success of Montana, the inferiority of their team and the complex their fans possess...

Remember at MSeuliss it is "In Denarius we trust." Ash is just a footnote on DM's resume.

This cracks me up. Here she goes again, ole Blgs Griz getting a poopy diaper. It is either "too many Texas kids on the roster" or "your Texas pipeline is dead." So, which is it? UM has lots of California, Oregon, and Washington kids as well. And guess what? Nobody cares. As long as they win, that's all that matters.

I know Griz fans are hoping and praying that the Cats suck in a post-DeNarius era and if that is your best bet for them taking a step back, then that's pathetic. Take care of your own problems in Missoula and things will figure themselves out, regardless of what happens in Bozeman.

And by the way, I noticed that the best player on the Cats team this year was a kid from Billings West who played D-line. Tell me we owe it all to DeNarius again. . . .

JPunch, I have yet to see a blue and gold MSEuliss shirt that say , "In Caleb we Trust." I remember only too well there were tons of bob fans and boosters ready to oust Ash in his first few years as MSEuliss head coach and ow they are ready to beatify him.

It happens at UM just as well. I think that says a lot about the expectations at both schools. I didn't hear too many great things about your coach this year, yet he has managed to bring in some out of state studs that will no doubt be excellent talents at UM.

DeNarius is the quarterback. He's the star. People love him and look up to him. That's usually the roll of a quarterback, isn't it? I'm glad you have an opinion about who was more important to the team. Lots of Griz fans seem to have many opinions on how things go on in Bozeman. The truth of the matter is that there were many an important player on the defense this season that helped cover up an offensive line that was patched together and finally exposed in the playoffs. The Defense finally got back to where we expect them to be - dominant.

Please don't be jealous of DeNarius. I know it is hurtful to not have a star player at quarterback. Trust me. I've lived through it for all but two 4-year stints with Lulay and McGhee. Of course when DeNarius leaves after four excellent years it will be tough to replace him. He's a once in a 20 year player. He's a unique talent and we are lucky we got him. But to say that all of MSU's success rests on his shoulders and that the program will fall apart when he leaves is ludicrous. The Griz were incredibly successful with average talent at QB for a number of years. John Edwards wasn't a talent like DeNarius, but damnit, that guy knew how to win. From then until the current Grizzly malaise, we haven't seen a top-notch Griz quarterback other than JJ. They have been good, game managing QBs who had other amazing talent to help them win, as is customary with team sports.

So, your prediction may come true. It may not. But Cat success isn't all about DeNarius. There are a significant number of other excellent players on that roster who will be there to replace him when the time comes. Maybe you've heard of a few of them. Tanner Roderick, your buddy who everyone was certain was coming to UM. Or Dakota Prukop, a highly rated talent who will compete with the aforementioned and Jake Bleskin. Life will go on in Bozeman and we will find our talent with the staff we have now.

So, who's going to be the starter for the Griz this year? I was really worried after the Dickenson years that the Griz would fall back into being the Griz we knew and loved in the 1980s, but that didn't happen. They got bigger and better. If it can happen in Missoula, it can happen in Bozeman.

Dude!? Your post is awfully long for a bunch of people that don't give a sh*t what you say about your beloved cats on a Griz message board! (Except the other numerous kitty fans that can't seem to get enough of egriz) :stfu:

And NO, I didn't read it!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^????? Who the hell cares who/whom/who the scats hire????
i do. i care who e.w.u. and any other contending b.s.c. team hires too. this thread is for griz football AND the f.c.s. or so it says. it sounds like the guy m.s.u. got will make for a seamless transition. he's been with chip kelly for four years at u.n.h. and was a f.c.s. o.c. for two years and a f.b.s. o.c. for one year. he has also coached in the f.c.s. playoffs numerous times. very solid hire and resume.

as for whoever it was that was wondering why ash hasn't been hired away i would say it's his age. he'll be 62 this summer and i doubt any f.b.s. teams will be looking at him very closely due to that. he got a sniff from idaho, but i don't know if he interviewed.

as for the talk about hauck having a better career record than ash, that's only correct for b.s.c. games. hauck's career record as a coach is now 86-49 .637. ash is 226-121-5 .649. joe glenn is 189-110-1 .631. mick dennehy was 68-62, kramer is 80-94. pflugrad is 18-7 .720. papabear read was 154-127-1. all those guys have better records coaching at u.m. and m.s.u. than they do elsewhere.

JPun, I really don't give a rats what goes on in MSEuliss but I do note it was a bobcat posting the OC hire on E Griz. I actually like and respect Ash but I am not one to beatify him since he has not been able to win against top tier talent.
I take exception with your qb comments. I would take Ochs, Bergquist, Edwards, Swogger and JJ over McGhee any time. McGhee has great talent, a huge heart, a drive to win but he does not know what his limitations are and all too frequently forces plays that wind up in turnovers. To many that negative is hude. Ash accepted turnovers as part of football. I think Bobby Hauck would have McGhee riding the pines for them.
I also think the booster ad featuring DM standing on a goal post is really cheesey. If I had a kid palying for the cats regardless of where he is on the depth chart, I would be p.o.'ed over the ad.
All in all your last post was good and had some honest information with how you feel and no name calling. Ty for that.
