Cats buyout game vs NDSU

This is a post from BN:
Look at the economics of this decision and see how it was an no-brainer:

For MSU to go to Fargo on charter (bus not feasible due to distance):

loss of $85,000 (just chartering and the wait time are the largest expense)
vs.
paying $100,000 for buyout

A loss of $15,000 for doing the buyout with NDSU

For MSU to go to Dallas

-$100,000 for charter and hotels
but receive
+$350,000 for guarantee (+/-) $50,000

A gain of $250,000 to go to SMU

Net gain: $235,000 (+/-) $50,000

Should Fields have gone to Fargo and paid out $85,000 for travel, or should he have not chose SMU, whereby he forfeits a likely $235,000 gain?

Then takes that gain, uses it to get an FCS non-conference opponent to come to Bozeman, likely schedules the Bobcats an additional win. With a better record, MSU hosts at least one playoff game, something that nets Montana State profit.

Unless Montana State has the money from the FBS payout, they don't have the money to pay an FCS opponent to come to Bobcat Stadium. You play NDSU, you still end up having to play an FBS, you start 0-2 and you don't host a playoff game

Bison if there are no facts that can justify backing out under the buy-out clause then why is this provision even in the contract? Bison, your attitude of don't bore me with the facts reflects your lack of honor and integrity. Unfortunately, in the real world there are circumstances that causes these things to happen. Yes it's upsetting, but life continues. All your whining is not going to change it. Life is a bitch and then you die!

You've had years and years to back out of this game permanently. Then we would have had time to schedule an honorable team. So far the only fact is, that you are scared to get beat playing the Bison. Anything other than that is an excuse. Man up and except the fact that you guys are ducking the Bison. Ive read your posts about money and your circular logic but the FACT remains that your team reneged on a deal.

Good. Now we are even. We don't hold you in high regard either. The only good thing which ever came out of North Dakota was an oil pipeline.

I finally figured out the animosity most of the posters on eGriz have for NDSU.

PURE AND SIMPLE ENVY!

We want to be NDSU so bad it hurts but we cant seems to climb over the NC hurdle that App St, Geo So and NDSU have no trouble doing multiple times.

Continue with your blatant complexes towards a winning program......I am sure they dont give a flying fu*k but it funny to watch you tools envy like this.

:coffee:

And we Bobcats don't even want to face it. That just shows you how far Montana has fallen - that they ridicule the Cats for scheduling themselves into the playoffs when they themselves can't get to .500.
How can you be such a huge tool! The cats have a few good seasons and ur now world beaters....yup we were under .500, but ur last few quarter final beatings wouldnt even be conciderd good seasons for us over here in Missoula. Uh and 2 of em being at HOME! We were under .500 this year due to a very strange turn of events this spring, nothing else. You have along way to go before you can even sniff the level of success we have enjoyed. The things we have done even in the past 4 years you couldnt even dream about as cats fans

So if the dakota schools want to play the montana schools so badly why did they decline the Big SKy invite?
We really couldnt care a less if we play montana schools. We care about reneging on a deal to play us in Fargo. You have bailed twice now. We honored our deal and went to Bozeman and played u guys. It's an honor and respect deal. As of two days ago we here in North Dakota thought Montana State would be the last team on the planet aside from the Griz to renege on a promise. It's absolutely embarrassing to think we used to hold the cats in high regard. You keep trying to come up with excuse after excuse but the fact remains that u are scared to get beat.

A know a ton of Bison fans that want to play the Montana schools and a lot that are pissed off that MSU chickened out. There is a reason why our AD is scheduling these games and worked so hard with MSU to try to get the game scheduled. He wanted to play them, oh well MSU's loss because if they call now he won't even pick up the phone. We can always play UM, UCD, CP or a number of SLC schools. Doubt they will treat us in this manner.

Fargo, yes the Cats reneged on the deal under the terms of the contract your AD signed!Yes they had years to do it. The whole national football landscape changed in those few years. Things change, shit happens. It's done. Like I said, your continuing to wine about it doesn't change a thing. Your AD can hold it against MSU for the rest of his career. So be it. We Cat fans and the players miss out on the opportunity to see you lose in your own house. Yep, it's a bummer!

Chris should charge posters from "other" schools a user fee, since they sure seem to use his board far more often to have their pissing matches between one another.

That's funny since this thread starts out with the word "Cats" and has 3,177 views in 24 hours. You guys do a lot of worrying about the Cats these days. Focus on your own problems, especially winning at home this season.

I...I...I....

I simply don't know what to say. So I'll just...

My guess is MSU has an FCS game all lined up at home and needed the extra cash from SMU to get a FCS game in Bozeman versus a D2 game. This is the 12 game year for FCS right?

Better for fans going to Home games, not so good in the reputation department

I'm serious. You guys have many things going on in Missoula. This is not in doubt. I don't understand why this is such a big deal to Griz fans. I'm not defending the move at all. I'm not justifying it. But that's not the same as asking why, for a team coming off a 5-6 season in which 3 of the 6 losses came at home in the esteemed Washington Grizzly Stadium, there is so much focus on Montana State?

I admit we've got our work to do. We need to get tougher up front. DeNarius covered up a lot of weaknesses, as did coach Mac with his work on the offensive line. However, that was all exposed against the national runner up as they beat up the Cats and worked them over good. We're working on those problems, like we should be. Griz fans, however, instead of worrying about a weak secondary, poor quarterback play and a mediocre place kicker, are more worried about the Cats' schedule rather than the issues going on right at home.

On another note, is it the Cat FANS that are working on the problems? or is it the coaching staff and the players? haha holy shit punch.....what is going to come of griz FANS being worried about our problems. I am positive that the staff and players are working on these issues.

Becker, if that's the case, why are you responding? Let us Cat fans profusely apologize for things outside of our control and let the Bison fans be angry for not being able to beat us. If you're upset about it, I don't know why. It makes zero sense. Worry about beating us in Bozeman again. Worry about getting into the playoffs. Worry about fielding a winning team. Worry about winning games at home. We'll take care of our business. You take care of your own.

Then you need to get lost. I have a great deal of respect for NDSU and I wish the Griz could play them every year. We may have had a down year or two lately, but we do not shrink away from any other FCS school. Bring it on, there or here. And Bobscats should take their chickensh#t whining elsewhere. Pathetic.

Jerry for a few Griz fans on here like Statler and Waldorf, they love what happened. It gives them new opportunities to spew hate. They use the word hate in their posts more than I have seen anywhere. It is sad when something like a great football rivalry degenerates into hate in some fans small mind.

I think if you check your facts that the griz have pulled out of playing in Fargo twice.
Name the year and dates, bozo-ville.

I can understand Hofstra and Cal Poly but that's the only two I recall.

Find a post by me that says i give a flying fuck if the cats back out of this game...i couldnt care less...im responding to your endless ammounts of bullshit. Its so awesome seeing the high and mighty cats fans now that they have had a few back to back winning seasons :thumb:

Goat creek, Cat fans and the players would love to play NDSU every year too. We wish just like you do. But your AD has not scheduled them every year either. Like Jerry said it's beyond the players and fans control. I am sure the ADs have valid reasons why they don't and as in the Griz case schedule teams like Panhandle State instead!

What does it say about you then when you lose to the "chickenshit" Bobcats?

If Appalachian State informed UM last week it would not be coming to Missoula this fall, then Appalachian State would be be a bigger loser than MSU. Since that did not happen, you guys wear the crown as King of the Losers. And if the Bobscats don't like facing the truth, then stay away from eGriz. Your claptrap is transparent, so save it for your sychophant buddies hanging out at the R Bar.
