Carroll College vs Portland State

Just spoke with Van Diest today...mentioned the Portland State game to him but he quickly responded they have to worry about Northern (Game 1) before PSU.

They should be worried about Northern... :thumb:

i am so sick of you guys that havent seen carroll play one down predicting a port st. blow out. yes, psu has a distinct advantage when you compare players by position, but van diest and company will come ready to play. you griz fans are like the jealous brother that when you're not getting all the attention, you have to belittle the younger brother. win or lose , carroll will represent the state of montana well and all montnans should be proud - sheesh.

Once again here is another example of someone who is jumping to conclusions and just posting to be an ass. First, I created this post and I have personally played against Carroll. Second, most of the people on here have more than likely seen Carroll play at some point in their lives. Third, you can keep telling yourself that Carroll will play them close and that it won't be a blowout, I guess whatever helps your mental status is what you have to do because only a complete idiot would say Carroll will keep it close. And last thing, there will be no sympathy for Carroll anywhere on here or throughout the state. That is like asking a UM fan to be proud when the bobcats are doing good( as we do have Tech, Northen, and other Front. Conference fans on here im sure). So yes Carroll WILL LOSE and i hope its by at least 60!

Right none of us have watched Carroll

I will give you 35 points and you won't cover

seriously. most of us have seen carroll play many times. and even if we didn't....it doesn't matter. i haven't seen alabama play a down this year either....but if they were facing my bobcats i'd predict a blowout of epic proportions in favor of the tide.

it is what it is man.

No one has asked for sympathy for Carroll. The coaches and AD looked for a game against a higher level team, however, why bash the program? You can because you played at Tech and I get the rivalry. The majority of posters here did not attend Carroll so why go out of your way to bash them? I agree with the post that said people bash their success because it is at a "lower level" and the Saints can't compare to the Griz. Same goes for those posters that got pissed at the Tennessee fans that bashed Montana for the success at a "lower level" and said Montana will keep it close, no difference. Carroll's record at the NAIA level is impressive..period. I have posted before, I hope Carroll plays well, comes out healthy and PSU's check does not bounce...

You guys are over estimating FCS and underestimating NAIA. I predict it will be a pretty good game Carrol will do better than we did against Iowa or Oregon last time we played. 35-17 PSU

wrong! PSU will kick Carroll's ass and we can quit hearing how Carroll could compete in the BSC. I can't stand PSU, but i hope they mop the field with the saints

They will. I'm thinking 56 -13

I don't know if anyone would get beat our but one of their D Ends, Brian Graupmann from CMR, was recruited by Hauck and then asked to walk-on by Pflu. He has Big Sky talent but a change of regime put him at Carroll.....

Carroll RB Chance Demarais could be a UM starting RB even with Peter and Big Dan in the backfield. As a tech fan I am even saying this so it must be true haha. Chance ran for 1805 yds with 19 TDs and was conference and national POY. I dont care where you play that is damn good and this kid is a beast he is 6 ft 225 lbs. Also, yes I know for a fact Matt Ritter would start for the Griz he is to good to ignore and not give credit to. He had 90 catches for 1286 yds and 14 TDs and also had 4 rushing TDs with 154 yds. To say these two could not start for the Griz is just being ignorant. And again this is coming from a Tech fan!

Based on watching them play several times in the MVD years I would agree. Of course its not the same level, but 6 national championships in a playoff system deserves more respect. The 35 point spread offered is generous. Its unrealistic to think they can compete for 4 quarters and win given the roster size and overall talent differences but it will be competitive and hard nosed. We should be supportive of this Montana program as we would if Tech or Northern was playing up.

There have been several players over the years that would have started at UofM I will start with BOTH the Emmert brothers. Tyler in particular was I believe undeafeted at Capital High in two or three years as a starter and then I believe had only one loss and three national titles his Soph-Senior seasons very smart QB with good arm and accuracy. Travis Browne who was a WR a few years back was fast as all hell and made people look stupid. Obviously Fitzimmons. This years squad has the running back. Then there is the kid from Helena High who was the AA Defensive MVP Sean Blomquist and I was SHOCKED that he didn't play for Montana. And the others mentioned previously. I played with several players that went on to UofM and several that played NAIA in Helena. I will tell you that with some of these guys there is not that much if any a drop off in talent. One of the guys I played with ended up being an All American at Montana. Other guys I played with ended up being All Americans at Carroll. Do I think that the Griz guy was WAY better an athlete than the Carroll guys? Hell no.

whatever. first off carroll is a top-notch n.a.i.a. team and p.s.u. is an average f.c.s. team even when it had cavanaugh and mccaffry. if m.s.u. was a top-notch f.c.s. team and bama was an average f.b.s. team you'd predict a blowout of epic proportions? you're a pessimist, if so. maybe you've watched c.c. play, but you obviously haven't been paying any attention to f.b.s. vs. f.c.s. games. there are 3-4 games a year where a f.c.s. team wins. knowing that you have to agree that this game has all the markings of a potential down to the wire game.
