That doesn’t say he wants to move up. Do you understand what the word “positioned” means? Do you not understand that there is no opportunity now?

Do you not recall that UM already turned down a WAC opportunity?

UM has been working to be in position to evaluate moving up, if FCS should start crumbling or significant realignment should cause UM to consider other action, for 20 years. No one has stated that on egriz more than I have.

Where has Haslam said he would move up if boosters weren’t holding him back? You said that. Proof it, Mr. Windmill Chaser.

I feel like if finances weren't an issue, then he would be all for it. I mean what AD wouldn't want to be part of a successful move up. Thats the deal though. He's smart enough to realize that theres no means for a successful financial move up plan that fits our unique model in the current state of the game. But he does see a potential loop hole down around the corner and is resting his hopes on that. I get it, it's the smartest safest plan. Beats doing the leg work of convincing donors to donate a crap ton of money they'd probably rather not and then theres the constant fear of failure and backlash from a bunch of angry donors. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have proved you wrong multiple times.

You have to do your own research to prove a quote and point. I for one don’t believe the stuff you make up. I don’t have to prove a negative. You need to support what you say.
 
all other sports including Olympic sports should move up, keep football FCS, these sports already compete against and win vs PAC, MWC teams. Find a better home for these sports.

He should be looking to move all other sports to a better conference, softball soccer, MBb and WBB they already play against and beat PAC and MWC teams. Especially basketball a better conference can provide more ncaa units.

Why is that. Keep football in the FCS, keep making money and winning championships the rest of the teams are already in D1/FBS and play FBs level games. If men’s and women basketball went to MWC they would have a good chance to earn more ncaa credits which is additional revenue for the school.

The only arrangement I can think of would be the same one UC Davis has with the MWC, and that's never gonna happen.

Why would it make sense to drop football. UC Davis is doing this exact thing. There football is staying FCS/BSC while all other sports are going to the MWC in 2026 season. If UC Davis why can’t Montana.

Why. UC Davis is doing the exact same thing, football staying FCS/BSC while all other sports going to the MWC in 2026. This will actually help there football program in the long run. They will get more revenue from NCAA basketball as a conference they can invest back into football.

UC Davis doesn’t have the regional rivalries in the Big Sky that Montana does. 3 Big Sky opponents are short road trips away. The Mountain West also has a desire to expand their footprint in California more so than Montana.

Why, because the MWC covets the Sacramento market. Missoula market doesn't make the MWC all tingly.
