I'm just tired of the naysayers who insist failure is the ONLY option and that we'd almost certainly end up like Idaho and not App or Boise or JMU or ODU or Coastal or Marshall or any of the countless others who've moved up and had success. This stadium, these facilities, and this fanbase are ready to take on a higher level of competition. UM had best be prepared to make it happen if the opportunity presents itself.

When do you think the administrators out here can do something like the the Sun Belt did and achieve this type of outcome? I don't think it's ever going to happen.

Minimum of five years. Likely longer than that. I believe NDSU moving up may expedite the process. Pretty clear there are a ton of FBS garbage teams and conferences right now. Maybe it is more prudent to wait a year or two and see how things shake out. Texas A&M is not in a garbage conference and they spend more money than about anyone in college football for recruiting. Let’s not forget they lost to a program that also upset Michigan. App State has something going on!!

If my memory serves me correctly, that was before Billy Napier was Furmans quarterback. Hes's now Florida's head coach and over 40 years old. In other words, over twenty years ago. Coastal Carolina would be a better analogy...
 
I'll state this one more time: It is asinine the four Dakota schools, Wyoming, two Colorado schools, two Idaho schools, two Montana schools, two Utah schools can't get their egotistical administrators together and form a viable conference. Sheer stupidity as far as I'm concerned. The Sun Belt is now the major Group of 5 Conference because of good administration. We suck out here. Watch the pac and the mountain west get ate alive because our administrators suck.

How about Georgia Southern beating Nebraska today? The Sun Belt has arrived while the fucking big sigh, mountain west and pac have all stood pat and will have to fold and pick up crumbs off the floor. Pitiful. Hope the Big 12 takes what's left of the western teams. Fucking morons running the show.

I think he has. They are all peer reviewed Ivy League graduates with volume after volume of journal articles that the journal editors thought were worth publishing (as a replication study).

They all agreed the study needs further review and...

Fuck it. Just do like the Ivies and play with themselves. Nobody else because the patriot league might beat the green weenies.
 
Watching NM State and UTEP tonight is a prime example of why there should be no hesitation in moving up. The Griz would wax both of these teams at home or on the road. Add that to Incarnate Word/Nevada outcome, the Weber/USU outcome…… these are just a few reference points from games played today. We have the infrastructure in place now to compete. I have mentioned on a previous post that we have more in common with Colorado State than we do Eastern Washington. I’m starting to think it’s an advantage for us as well to be in a smaller college town in a state that doesn’t have any P5 or NFL teams to compete with…..the support and atmosphere is always going to be here to drive and demand success. I would have to argue that someone like Nevada doesn’t have this same luxury competing with UNLV, The Raiders, Tahoe, Casinos, etc. Which of the MWC schools could the Griz not compete with? I cannot think of one MWC team that we couldn’t beat on any given night and I can think of several that we would for sure beat (Wyo, Hawaii, Colo St, UNLV, New Mexico, Nevada, San Jose State) and I think it’s a toss up between us vs Boise, SDSU, Utah State, Fresno. And that is right now with 20 less scholarship players. The FCS is not the same FCS of 20 years ago…..we have no business in the FCS anymore along with a handful of others that need to make the move up……and this needs to be done sooner than later.

Gotta slow the roll a bit. They dominated Mizzou today...

Not taking anything away from the Griz D...elite and probably the best in the FCS.

Hosting a great team in Missoula would be pretty awesome. Only a few teams left in FCS that even have a fan base and two are in Montana. The South Dakota state attendance today was pathetic. All the teams that had a great stadium/fan base/atmosphere are gone now. What’s the next best place in FCS outside of the the state of Montana to play now? If the HBCU schools would do away with the dumbass celebration bowl and participate with the rest of FCS that would help. But yeah, FCS is so watered down now it’s pathetic. There are still some good teams, but very few with fan bases

Because this insinuates that the anti-move-uppers (such as myself) don’t want to move up because we don’t think we could hang with the big boys. We might be like some of the G5 schools and win those big games every once in a while, but my main gripe is the bowl system. Those are basically participation ribbons, no thank you…
