There is little to no difference anymore between the G5 and the top of the FCS. And there’s getting to be less difference between the top of the G5 and the bottom of the P5. Not moving up, is basically a move down. The FCS is watered down... be remembered or be forgotten.
Haslam has expressed concern about UM’s relationships with rivals like Northern Colorado, Portland State and Eastern Washington. Schools which we have little in common with. The relationships he is in truth concerned about are the Missoula Saloonkeepers who are selling lots and lots of whiskey as a result of the playoffs and write generous checks when Haslam stops in to visit.
I have stated this before and believe it now more than ever.
If the Griz and bobcats, Bison and Jackrabbits and several other FCS programs do not decide to move up, the decision will, in a short period of time, be made for them!
Once the P5 conferences finish poaching, and solidify their respective conferences, they will proceed to negotiating their own separate contracts with the networks and the NCAA will lose a significant of its present TV revenue. The evidence is clear with the move of USC & UCLA out of the PAC 12.
Once that happens the consequences for everyone else, (G5, FCS), will be less than desirable.
Those teams need to position themselves in the best possible scenario now to assure they will be able to move with the rest of what we call Division I rather than being forced down to Division II status.

Of teams more in the West, Southwest, and Midwest, which teams besides Boise St can be pointed to as having had great success in moving up? I suppose Nevada, but they got beat by Incarnate Word yesterday, have very low season tickets, I seem to recall, and have not had much for attendance (have had 12,000 and 13,000 for their 2 home games this year).
It's easier to move up in the East and Southeast. Way more schools, way more FBS conferences, and way more places to recruit. The West now as the Pac-12 and the Mountain West in FBS and the Big Sky in FBS. Where could the Griz go? Even NDSU hasn't been able to figure it out. Where could NDSU go? I think USC and UCLA's move to Big 10 will be successful financially, but they are going to kill the lesser sports with travel (time and cost).
Sam Houston got beat by NAU yesterday.

I see that USTA (12-2) did make the the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl last season (loss). So, there's that.
For me, I loved the first two games. Nice days (one hot), great atmosphere at the game and in town, nice friendly informal tailgates, excitement in watching our guys play, big crowds, fun on field after the games (with kids and others talking to players and playing some ball on their own), happy player families, etc. It was fun to stand in line with Kem and catch up in person. And CDA last week. I hope the Griz can keep it up, and, if so, playoff run here we come.

All teams won’t be successful when they move up. Will the Griz be successful? There isn’t a guarantee, but I believe we will in the beginning if we have Bobby Hauck as our coach. That is a question——would we have Bobby as our coach? I don’t know his position about moving up. I agree that North Dakota State has a dilemma concerning a move up destination. It would be good to see them in the Mountain West with the Griz and travel will be a concern for both schools. I like and respect your thoughts about enjoying the Griz games during and after and I would think that will be the case after a move up.

Idaho could not get in a conference. NDSU can't find a conference. If the midwest and Rocky Mountain FCS schools want to play FBS football, they have to build their own conference. That won't happen because there are way too many egotistical asses in the podunk FCS schools in the west. They don't know how to work together. Too damn much of my way or the highway and complacency.

We lose UNC and gain Wyoming, CSU, AF, and Colorado college in soccer , we lose Weber and gain Utah State, Nevada, UNLV and New Mexico, we lose Idaho and ISU and gain Boise(doubt they’re still around), and head down into Soutern California instead of Northern California. The only real inconvenience for all schools is Hawaii. Can’t tell me we don’t have some fans, donors, and qb club members that would like making that trek every other year. It’s a lot more ideal for us than for NDSU
