BSky Awards 2024

D-ends rarely get even double-teamed let along triple-teamed. A double team would like including a running back. Who's basing opinions just on stats? Stats are actually important for defensive players and honors. Anyone who played the game, would know that.
Rarely? Grebe gets doubled and clipped frequently. I also guarantee that Grebe has significantly less snaps at he has sat nearly every 4th quarter and rotates a ton.

Pretty cool to see so many Montana grown kids get 1st and 2nd teams recognition.

1st Team:
Tommy Mellott (OPOY) - MSU
Brody Grebe (DPOY) - MSU
Marcus Wehr - MSU
McCade O'Reilly - MSU
Rylan Ortt - MSU
Taco Dowler - MSU
Keyshawn Newby-James - Idaho
Junior Bergen - UM

2nd Team:
Paul Brott - MSU
Ryan Tirrell - UM
Trevin Gadney - UM

Adam Jones (Freshman of the Year) - MSU

But I though in-state recruiting was dumb as those Texas kids are so much better?????

Harris has more sacks and is a better player. Grebe doesn't have many tackles or other stats either. Awards always go mostly to the best team in the conference. He got it because of that and pre-season hype. The all-conference team is always influenced by who the top team or teams were. It's not surprise the Cats got lots of players on the team, and the Griz had fewer. I'm okay with that and expected that. I assume the Griz got some of these advantages last year too.
There were back to back years 2012/2013 that our Bobcat Defense Ends won the Buck Buchanan Award in Brad Daly and Caleb Schreibeis. Their "numbers" were through the roof! However, lost in the stats was an interior linemen named Zach Minter. He did not have great defensive statistics, but he was double and triple teamed almost every game which allowed other good players to wreck havoc in the backfield.

All this to say that both Grebe and Harris are great players.

And statistics are always factual but often misleading.

Minter was well known. He killed teams by eating up blockers.

Did he not?
These were stats prior to last weekend.

Harris has 7 sacks, all solo. Aveages .63 per game, for 77 yards. Harris has 15 TFL's.

Grebe has 6 sacks, all solo, averaging .55, for 36 yards. Greve has 7.5 TFL's.

Harris has 43 tackles, 26 solo, and 1 interception. Grebe has 28 tackles, 16 solo, and 0 interceptions.

Are you that brainwashed by Marty. Grebe was the preseason dpoy. https://bigskyconf.com/news/2024/7/...mvp-honors-all-conference-team-announced.aspx
You are so stupid. You don't even do your research.

When UM ran 5 wide, how did they double team Grebe. Yaya, the Griz backups came up early in a lot of games too. If you want to show us snaps, go for it. Otherwise, don't bother us with your made-up stuff and lies.

Harris is a stud player and had to contest with the same blocking schemes that Grebe would have (tackle/guard double teams, rb blocking schemes; ect) If anything Grebe had an additional advantage because he had a much stronger supporting cast in the front 7. Not taking away from what Grebe has accomplished, but Hoops argument is not without merit)

Grebe and other MSU defensive players played way fewer snaps than anyone else in the BSC because they were getting pulled in Q3 in addition to rotating heavily.

Thanks. And obviously Grebe is very good, requires a lot of attention, and is very mobile. I assume he's a tough kid too, but don't know. I am surprised by his lack of TFF's. I would have thought he would have slipped away from blocks, gotten in the backfield, and run down more players. It's nice to have a discussion with and learn from someone who knows the game and the teams, and is willing to discuss. Tom Part recruited me back in the day.

True. But if you looking at stats alone it wouldn’t be egregious if Harris ended up with the award. The argument Hoops made was that selection committee usually gives the nod to Players on the best team which was MSUs Grebe.

In the 90s /2000s I would get all worked up because all the conference awards went to the Griz players ( even though arguments could have been made) that’s just how it is

They ran the TE across the formation and cut blocked him, its illegal but that was the tactic they used.

I highly doubt any of the fans with strong opinions on this have spent a lot of time watching both Grebe and Harris and carefully comparing the two. So it's going to be based on stats for virtually everyone and that's going to be warped because MSU defenders barely played compared to many of their counterparts on other teams.
