BSky Awards 2024

Everything on these lists and awards would be accurate. Shocked that the BSC got it right! hahaha Congratulations to all the award winners, especially the Montana Grizzlies awarded, and any kids from the great state of Montana as well.

Hoops I thought Harris has more sacks though?
Harris has more sacks and is a better player. Grebe doesn't have many tackles or other stats either. Awards always go mostly to the best team in the conference. He got it because of that and pre-season hype. The all-conference team is always influenced by who the top team or teams were. It's not surprise the Cats got lots of players on the team, and the Griz had fewer. I'm okay with that and expected that. I assume the Griz got some of these advantages last year too.

Grebe got DPOY because he drew double and triple teams to keep him from getting sacks. Not unlike Gubner whose stats weren't eye popping either. Anyone who understands the game wouldn't just base opinions on stats.

I don't know who Brody Grebe is (unless he's the kid who washed out of the Ivy league after a year or two, can't remember if that is the same name) or what position he plays; it lists him as a DL so not sure if that is end or tackle. Anyway, if he's an end it is extremely unlikely that he would be getting triple teamed. Unless he's lining up 3 or 4 tech, a really unbalanced 4 man line, it would almost impossible/senseless to try to get a guard out to him. Most BSC teams don't play with a TE in passing situations but even if they did, it would mean they would also have to keep a back home on that side to chip him for it to be a triple team. Most offense's don't run the TE and the back to the same side on passing plays because it's too easy for whomever is covering the tight end to react to a RB swing.

If he's an interior lineman would be possible he is facing triple teams but still pretty unlikely. What is more likely is this is a case of Cat fans exaggerating in the same way that you call your school a University when Community College is far more accurate.

D-ends rarely get even double-teamed let along triple-teamed. A double team would like including a running back. Who's basing opinions just on stats? Stats are actually important for defensive players and honors. Anyone who played the game, would know that.

From what's posted the Big Sky Conference doesn't think highly of the Griz player personnel this season. National polls also don't have the Griz as a top 10 team. Appears to me many believe the Griz are starting the rebuilding process. It's playoff time so much of that can be thrown out the window if the Griz make noise in the next several weeks.

This is voted on by the head coaches idiot. They don’t base it solely off of stats. The coaches watch tons of film and recognize who is the best players when they game plan. If Harris was legitimately the best player he would’ve gotten 1st team.

Wilson was the BSC preseason D player of the year and had a subpar year. The best team usually has the best players, go figure. The BSC coaches have spoken with their votes and concluded that either the Griz has substandard players or coaching or probably both.

This is false. Riley Wilson was the preseason pick.
