Tell you what we were a little lucky tonight, we missed 14, yes that's 14 free throws tonight, the good thing, UC IRvine shot worse than we did at the line. Still have lots to work on before next weekends matchup with BYU. However, I do think this Weber team can be special.

Right now, the Big Sky has 4 teams in the top 150

67- Weber State
120- Montana
142- Northern Arizona
143- Sacramento State

then it just goes down hill from there

277- Eastern Wash
286- Portland State
288- Northern Colorado
295- North Dakota
303- Idaho State
319- Montana State
341- Southern Utah

Wildcat,
Wonder how it would work out for the Wildcats or Griz .....if they were to move to either the Big West, or the West Coast Conference for Olympic sports, and then go Indepedent for FCS Football ??....I know the Griz would have to spend more money in payouts to get opposing FCS teams into Wa. griz, but we would be moving up significantly in rating, and competion for Basketball if we did...If the Griz went indy in football, attendance would still be good??...AND Naysayers....Ask yourself...do we pack 24k for a conf game??...yes...Have the griz packed the place in with DII competition in pre-conf???....yes...Hmmm..ok

Sorry, The Big Sky is a far cry from the competion that it used to have ..... UM needs to find some peers in another Conference for B-Ball.....If they want to compete with the same level of competition that was ONCE THE BIG SKY

Problem lies here...As I understand it , the best conference of the two for basketball...the Wcc, is mainly made up of private religious schools, and therefore many point out that it would not be a good fit for the U of M. The Big West conference has a bit higher rating than the Big Sky in B-ball,and maybe that's where they should be. The U of M holds a lot of leverage in the Big Sky......Might they someday use it :?: :!:

  Oh That's right...I forgot about...MSU,Waded Cruzado, and the Board of Regents......Ain't gonna Happen...Carry on as usual...

I am afraid that Weber is where they should be, Going independent in football would be suicide for the Wildcat football program, and I dont think the Big West wants anymore members, especially more members not in California. The Big West is charging Boise State out the butt just for them to join in basketball, Im sure charges like this one would be similar for a Montana or a Weber State, and I'm sure most Big West Schools would say no because of the travel to a Missoula or an Ogden.

RPI's of the Big West

42- Pacific
50- UC Santa Barbara
76- Cal State Northridge
96- Long Beach State

And then it's a huge drop

212- Cal Poly
230- UC Irvine
254- Hawaii
267- UC Davis
318- UC Riverside
323- Cal State Fullerton

The Big West top 4 is definetely a lot better than the top 4 for the Sky, but the remainders are pretty much the same.

What should happen (IMO) is WSU and UM band together and cherry pick the best football/basketball schools from the oversized big sky and put together a new FCS conference and leave the rest in the Big Sky.
Idaho (with a long term conference commitment), UM, MSU, WSU, EWU, Poly and/or Davis for the Cali footprint, UND, (and maybe pick up Seatle or NMSU too?). Leaves the Big Sky with ISU, SUU, UNC, PSU, Sac St, NAU, and any others left off from the new conference.

This would also position the new conference to be the best FCS conference in the West and the option to move to the new tier 2 FBS level if the BCS schools move up and out.

Great Idea....
Which is why it probably wont happen. Political schwag in the wrong end of the Big Sky nixes that.
