Why did it take 22 points and an entire half to put Oguine on Jones?

They didn’t panic at all. Even when UND ran out to that 5 point lead, they kept getting good shots. Lots and lots of good shots.The Griz shot only 4 threes in the second half. Made a concerted effort to get the ball inside.

What i have enjoyed about this team, is that it finds a way to get back inside of itself. Getting the type focused, within the offense looks is huge. UND got them to play outside of their comfort zone, and in the second half they ground the game down.

UND is a quality team. They cooled off in the second half. Only 3-11 from three. But I give UND credit for going with what they had w/out Avants, and kudos to DeCuire for making the necessary defensive adjustment to go small and put Oguine on Jones in the second half. Jones scored 2 points and didn’t get a lot good looks.

Neither of their two potential opponents are offensively challenged, and we could see similar paced games in tomorrow nights semi-final. If I would have my druthers I’d want Northern Colorado over Weber. Weber is just Weber and they scare me.
 
That first game against a team who has already won a game on this floor almost sets up as a trap game for the team with a by. I'm curious to see how the other top 4 seeds respond today. Go Griz!
 
It's a challenge to beat any decent team three times in one season. (Although I think we could've taken down NAU.) :lol:
 
They were hot to end the last game as well...carried over. Man couldn't watch it at work but followed on ESPN and here in between patients. I did not like that at all! hahaha

Lot of "right-on" observations on Montana's win over a "what've we got to lose" NDak team... nothing more to add at this moment.

I think there are game plans that teams execute well and some of them in spite of. UND was never offensively challenged, it was defensively. The challenge to play a team that goes really 5-0 or 4-1, is that your defensive rotations are really jacked up. Especially when you have a team that is as good as defending the paint as the UM is.

Jones shooting in the first half was off of Akoh caving to help or getting caught in a switch. You’d like to be able to make that adjustment on the fly, but by going 4 wings and 1 post they had to fix their rotations a bit. By putting Oguine on Jones and staying with the 4-1 look it made it easier to defend the hedge or switch. Less open looks.They got it right in the second half. Their rotations were much better.

UND is good. That isn’t your typical 8 seed basketball team.
 
Hoping Weber can get things turned around...they're getting killed on the glass and on the scoreboard. In the first 10 mins it's 23-9. Spight has 14 points and UNC already has 7 offensive rebounds. Weber has 5 turnovers.

Hoping Weber squeaks out a 4 OT game :P

North Dakota went toe-to-toe with top-seeded Montana in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky tournament but the Griz ended the game on a 10-4 run to post an 84-76 win and move into the semifinals on Friday.

Montana head coach Travis DeCuire and junior guards Ahmaad Rorie & Michael Oguine plus North Dakota head coach Brian Jones, junior point guard Geno Crandall and senior forward Dale Jones address the media following the game.
 
Any idea why Karl Nicholas isn't playing lately? Team seemed to be playing better overall with the 8 man rotation. Figure chance of 3 games in 3 days would lend for 8 or 9 deep vs 7
 
Sitting here watching Weber they look slow and disinterested.
Kinda glad they are getting rolled Weber fans very annoying during Griz game. Just don’t look like a RR coached team. Probably 200 Griz fans here today.

Looking at the number of Weber fans which is waaay lower then last two years, I think something is up.

There was mention in another article that UTEP was interviewing him too.

They're getting killed by UNC tonight. 57-30 right now. Griz are definitely going to have their hands full with a fired up UNC team tomorrow.
