Perkins for breakfast, Applebees for lunch, Jakers for dinner. Boom.

Perkins????? LOL!!

I was trying to think of the most non-local places to eat. It was just a bad joke. Nothing more, nothing less.

Reminded me of the Hall Pass movie when Owen Wilson's character and his buddies went to the Applebee's bar to pick up chicks!

Lolo steakhouse is way over rated. I prefer Curleys over that place anyday.

Never been to Curleys, I'll have to check it out.

Damn all this talk of steak is making me hungry though.

From San Diego and still eats meat? Cool. Not being a jerk, but I was unable to find a good place in Missoula. Lots of ok places but SoCal has set a high standard. My best suggestion would be to find a place that serves the biggest, greasiest burgers....Hard to find them down here and harder in San Diego...Better yet, is there such a thing as a Butte pasty shop....none here or in SD....

Yes your friend regrets not looking into a Griz offer but there are "worse" places to spend four years then the University of San Diego! What a campus setting. With that panoramic view of the Pacific ocean, it is probably the nicest campus in the country. Maybe Pepperdine University is nicer but that is it.

Pepperdine >> USD. But USD wouldn't be a bad consolation prize.

Pepperdine freaks me out. One degree from BYU.
I agree..Pepperdine is reputed to be a CIA front....not a place for non pious but great for the better than thou......San Diego is ok, UC Santa Barbara...wow..

Whoah whoah whoah...you think SoCal has better steaks than here? I'm sorry sir, but I will have to disagree. I've been to quite a few place in SoCal, and in my opinion, Montana has the better steaks.

There is a Butte pasty shop in Zootown. Haven't eaten there, but I've heard nothing but good things...

Lisa's, on Sussex, sort of behind Southgate Mall. And, yes, it is good.

That's kind of why I asked the steak question. Doubtless, LA Metro has some world class steaks for $65 plus sides. But, my friend said he's excited to eat a steak that was "killed out back." I think he's still under the impression that all of Montana looks like Dances With Wolves.

Don't laugh. A few years back, some interns from Boston came to our facility, and actually expected to see indians in tee pees and cavalry in wooden forts.

If anyone wants a terrific breakfast, I'd strongly suggest the Crab Benedict at Curley's! For $8.95, it's worth every penny!

Only problem with it is that they only serve it on Saturday and Sunday. If you can't make it to Curley's for their breakfast menu, I'd give their crab sandwich a try. It's almost as good as their Crab Benedict.

Not Curley's, but pretty f'n close:

Disagree. Lisas in Missoula makes better pasties than any Butte one...but, I like the chunks of meat rather than the shredded.

There isn't a steakhouse in Missoula that can compete with the Derby in Butte, and I have had steaks at both Curleys and Guys in Lolo. Only two come close, Sir Scotts Oasis in Manhattan and the Cattle Baron Supper Club in Babb (just outside of Glacier Park on the east side).

Heres a pic of an amazing T Bone I had in Babb this summer.

Probably a Butte gal running it. 8-)

Re-checking my route, I find that the only stop I made on this trip was at Hammer's double wide.

Because he's a friend, I thought it would be safe to use the "facilities" at his place. My taint and Urologist are giving me indications that I made a very bad decision by stopping in Butte. So, word to the wise on that one!

When the itching and burning stop, I'll re-evaluate...

Nice use of "taint," but I question your proper use of Hammer's facilities if such contact was made.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that you placed facilities in quotes. A taint-plant could have therefore been completely normal for those so inclined.

I was actually down in the Bozeman area for a bit, so I went down to the Oasis as I always enjoyed going there when I was school in Bozeman, and sad to say, but it's gone down hill a little. Just not as consistently good as it used to be. The Land of Magic down in Logan however, best steak I've had in the state. Absolutely fantastic.

FWIW, things aren't getting any better!

When I woke up this morning, my taint looked like a relief map of Chile!

Thanks a lot, Hammer!
