Brian Buschini in transfer portal

Before this gets too crazy, I’ve had a chance to talk to Brian a bit directly. I’ve chatted with him on social media before, and we’ve chatted about the transfer opportunity.

He has had some tough times at UM and has struggled with depression at times. The fact that he is married now factors into this as well. He is now financially responsible for he and his wife and there were concerns about not having an opportunity at a full scholarship. That was a huge part of the decision. Finally there were concerns that he would not be allowed to train a lot with his kicking coach in the summer which he was worried would hold back some of his abilities. He just wants to do what is best for him and his family. He loves Griz Nation and doesn’t want anyone thinking less of him.

He told me I could fill everyone in here. Hope that helps.
There's nothing wrong with any of that stuff, and I honestly still hope he does well because he's earned the right to jump up and get more exposure. I hope someday we get the chance to welcome him back in Grizland for his record-setting performance this season. He's a Montana boy, after all.

It does seem like he's had his sights set higher than UM for a while, which is also fine.

But man, a parting shot like that? You don't get scrubbed from UM's website for nothing. He probably let a little bit too much of his true feelings out there, and Griz nation is naturally gonna be a little upset by that.

We all did stupid things as teenagers, and early 20s. Obviously he regretted it pretty quick as he deleted the tweet. We’ve seen social media getting more than a couple of players in hot water throughout the FCS.

Maybe a quick apology would appease some. Get used to it because we will many more mistakes made amongst transfers and social media. Social Media is the root problem of many thins in society now. I wonder if psych majors have to take a social media class now. Lol

…egriz always needed a drinking thread…
…with that being said…
…fcuk him and feed him fish heads…

… …

Wow smell that bridge burning from here.

Kind of a prima donna isn't he? Rohrbach is better anyways. That boy can flat out punt the ball. I timed a few of his punts this past fall and got consistent 5 second hang times. We won't miss a beat.

I don’t have a PFF subscription, but 5th place in the NFL for punting hang time was 4.45 seconds. In 2015 the league leader was at 4.8 seconds.

You might want to check your stop watch, because a high schooler from MT isn’t as good as NFL punters.

He’s not the first player to want retroactive scholarship money, wouldn’t be the first to get it either.

Had this been handled better by everybody, and that includes Hauck, kid might still be here.

So we could have gotten him a better deal than Nebraska. I see.

Potentially if he’s happy, he isn’t looking to leave.

I heard rumors of him transferring months ago, so it’s not like this was an unexpected development. Give your good players scholarship money, and it’s more likely they stay.

Pretty sure Hauck had no heads-up that he was entering the portal and within an hour or so getting a full ride offer from Nebraska. Then 24 hrs later committing to that Nebraska offer.

Please enlighten me how Hauck could have handled this better? I was informed by my son this evening that many in the locker room knew Brian was unhappy and looking other places and an outside organization was helping him. I assume this “One on One Kicking” is who helped facilitate this move, because he specifically gave them a shout-out in his Tweet dragging on the Griz coaches and organization.

This is football folks! This isn’t HS knitting class. Very few FBS programs have a dedicated coach for punter and kickers. What kind of extra support did Brian deserve? I know Brian and his father well, but damn this couldn’t have been handled better by Brian. No more excuses! Do not blame the coaches or program. My son is happy as hell to be playing for Hauck and will bleed for him every single day, just like 99% of this team.

As I said earlier, don’t be this guy, Brian.

It was during the Sentinel vs Glacier game and using my IPhone. You are right, I was rounding up, but my phone was showing 4.9s and my buddy next to me is my witness. We both were blown away by the sound, height and distance his punts were getting. I’m thinking Busch boy might have lost his job if he would have stayed, and that is his real motive.

Somewhere on here, someone said they couldn't name another "Ray Guy Award" winner... Travis Dorsch from Bozeman High won it in 2001 while playing for Purdue.

LANE KIFFIN SAYS RECRUITING HAS TURNED INTO ‘FREE AGENCY’ WITH NEW NIL RULES

https://www.outkick.com/lane-kiffin-compares-recruiting-to-free-agency/

“I don’t think people really say it this way, but let’s not make a mistake, we have free agency in college football,” Kiffin said. “And the kids go to where they’re going to pay the most. No one else is saying that maybe, but if the kid says, ‘This is what I’m getting here for NIL.’ It is what it is. Free agency has been created in college football…except you can’t lock people into a contract. They can go at any time. It’s a new world that we’re in. Sometimes they want to come to you and say, ‘I get this much money if I go there.’ This is just a whole new thing to deal with.”

Lane Kiffin huh... He makes $7.5 million a year and here is how long he was at each school as head coach...

Tennessee-- 2009
USC-- 2010-13
FAU--2017-19

He has NEVER been at a school for 4 years... But he thinks players should be...

If I’ve known about this transfer for months, you really think Hauck had no idea? Seems very unlikely.

You seem like a very good poster, with good information, so please don’t take this as a criticism. Knowing the way Bobby is about all types of social media, it might be best for your son if you didn’t post very much.

i will say it again; Good luck Mr. Buschini. :thumb:

Best of Luck going forward Mr. Buschini, we will all be cheering for your continued success.
Once a Griz, Always a Griz.
And please remember that there were several walk-on Montana boys before you that enjoyed FCS (1-AA) success and NFL career success.

^ ^ ^ those are topics that Mr. Buschini could have/should have considered discussing with Coach Hauck. Good luck Brian.

Not sharing "State Secrets" here. Not even sharing inside the locker room banter. Never once have I said anything on here that would compromise this Griz team or gone against anything Hauck or company have said not to do. No, Hauck did not know. No, his assistants did not know. They have been talking about it openly for the last 2 days. Have you seen how upset Hauck is in his interviews? Yes, they did give him a scholarship and Brian's family has been talking about it for weeks now. The way this went down is bad and clearly breaking NCAA regs in doing so. Pretty selfish and some in the program are upset, rightfully so.
