Brett Favre

Sorry for the off the wall question but,

Are the Packers kind of like the Yankees? You either love'em or hate'em?

Naw. I think people hate the Yankees because they represent everything that is wrong with sports and they continually are among the elites in baseball. The same can't be said on either accounts for the Packers.

ok, here goes...Farve is one of the most over-rated QB's in recent memory. Granted he has had been a winner at times, but to claim that he is a great is a stretch. He has had opportunities in the playoffs and was miserable. Six interceptions against the Rams if memory serves me to name one.
He is a media darling and hence the hype. Best image of Farve is his lay down so Strahan could achieve the sack record. Somehow, I have a hard time thinking that Montana, Staubach, Bradshaw, or even Manning or Brady would have done that. His greatest attribute has been his longevity and endurance. That has been an accomplishment but, just a slightly above a mediocre QB. His career in almost any other NFL city would not have been such a love affair.

Just my opinion.

My opinion is, you're crazy.

The Packers aren't even close to being a favorite team of mine but watchin him is like watching Elway (Not a Bronco fan, either). Both were incredible at their posistion.

Here's to hoping Romo becomes one of the next greats.

How do you win three MVPs on longevity alone?

Slightly above medicore QBs don't set TD records, passing yardage records, win 3 MVPs and usually don't win Superbowls.

He's actually done really well in the playoffs, just a few years back he was a 4th & 28 away from going to the superbowl (Eagles converted it, won the game, went to the big game). That 6 INT preformance in StL was the year the Rams lost to the Patriots and it was the semifinals - the Pack had beat up on the 49ers in the wildcard game a week before.

I'd put Favre in the top 5 of "modern" QBs:

1. Montana
2. Elway
3. Favre
4. Young
5. Mario

I'm not including Brady or Manning until their careers are over, if they finished out successful careers they'd probably fill in somewhere in that top 5 and bump out Young & Marino.

I'm not a huge Favre fan, mind you (I really don't like ANYTHING in Green Bay, and that goes back before I was born to the Ice Bowl), but I'll grant him this:

There's only been one QB to be fired immediately after starting and winning the Super Bowl, and it wasn't Favre.

1. Brady
2. Favre
3. Montana
4. Bradshaw
5. Young

The rest are a distant 6 and lower.

Multiple Super Bowls count more than records, and yards.

Danny White???? Oh my God, you must not be a Cowboy fan...

I'd sooner have Betty White at QB...

Will you Cowboy loving queers get out of the Brett Farve thread?

Just thought you should be reminded of the team Favre (note spelling) could not beat to get to the Super Bowl...

Troy Aikman...3 rings-more than Favre and Young...

Yeah, but I hate the Cowboys and like Steve Young, still in all my loathing of the cowboys I would have Aikman 6th on my list.

How could you even reference the Yankees and Packers in the same sentence? Do the Packers buy their players? Championships? I think not! I hope to the lord above that Favre goes out a winner, and I mean Super Bowl Champ! He deserves it more than anyone and his dedication to his teammates and team should be rewarded! Favre will always be a winner in my book!

Ahem, once again, what NFC player did more this last weekend to win a game than Brett Favre?

- None.

Go Pack!
