I think you also have to allow for the possibility that the choice hasn’t really been made, or that Haslam floated the idea to Christian and he said “no”. That would account for sources in the Athletic Dept confirming that Haslam wants Hauck, and Haslam denying that Hauck has been hired.

Just got off the phone with #GrizFB's athletic director Kent Haslam. He says this is "absolutely false" and "no final decision has been made."

Perhaps the Missoulian is no longer on the guest list.

Now that is funny. Obviously the university in the state that is the anchor isnt the one with the dwindling numbers and massive cuts happening but the university with surging enrollment and new buildings going up around every corner. :roll:

Haslam denies Stitt hired as Griz coach

Despite media reports that Bob Stitt will be hired as the next Grizzly football coach, Montana Athletic Director Kent Haslam maintained that no hire is pending.

Fox Sports first reported that Stitt, who recently completed his 15th season at the NCAA Division II Colorado School of Mines, would replace the retired Mick Delaney as head man of the Griz program.

"To be honest, I haven't got anything I can announce right now," Haslam said. "The job has not been offered to anybody right now. When the time is right, we'll certainly make an announcement. I know everybody is really antsy for a decision."

So about 4 days later (on the 16th) that there was a press conference and it was made official that Stitt had been hired. I hope it doesn't take that long this time. It'd be nice to have it completely settled and announced before the weekend.

From what I am hearing it should be but I primarily posted this to show the Haslam pattern.

Maybe the press conference is the "Friday" rumbling we've heard, but I'm sure Haslam would deny that too. :lol:

We tell the offensive lineman to hold their water and wait for the snap of the ball. Maybe the news media should have held theirs and let it play out. I’m still confident that Bobby will be the new coach but I was confident of that on Tuesday. All this extracurricular didn’t need to happen.

Yeah this is an excellent point maybe post this article to Amie’s so people can see this is just Haslam speak. However calling the article “completely false” I think qualifies as a white lie if Hauck is indeed hired.

Not exactly a puppet but he allowed himself to be influenced by a wealthy and powerful booster. I think once Stitt's contract was not renewed that same booster has been pushing Hauck to both Haslam and the media.
