BREAKING: Hauck returns to Montana as 37th Griz head coach

I think you also have to allow for the possibility that the choice hasn’t really been made, or that Haslam floated the idea to Christian and he said “no”. That would account for sources in the Athletic Dept confirming that Haslam wants Hauck, and Haslam denying that Hauck has been hired.

Well done, well written and a fair and as complete of a representation as could be expected in a news article. Thank you

Bad article....it's wrong. He jumped the gun. Pulled a Beau Baldwin.

Is it wrong?

Tonight it is.....poor reporting by someone desperate to get the scoop.

I hope Skyline buries the missoulian sports beat. I hope the Hauck regime gives them unprecedented access at the expense of everything associated with the missoulian. FTmissoulian.

@Amie_Just
Just got off the phone with #GrizFB's athletic director Kent Haslam. He says this is "absolutely false" and "no final decision has been made."
Perhaps the Missoulian is no longer on the guest list.

Now that is funny. Obviously the university in the state that is the anchor isnt the one with the dwindling numbers and massive cuts happening but the university with surging enrollment and new buildings going up around every corner.
I'm not going to derail this whole thing and get into that topic, really not my intention, that comment was just too dumb to ignore.

Honestly though, congrats on the new coach hire, should make things pretty interesting in the big sky for the next few years.

Yeah, it gets old having State College as an anchor. I stand by it. History proves it. I agree that it's not on-topic.

cad just can't help but creme his cupcakes over any perceived good news coming out of Missoula. Congrats Cupcake!!! :D

I've missed your stupid face the last 3 years....the band is definitely back. Cat land can pretend all it wants.

Being back on the griz board proves it.

The band really is getting back together...

Haslam denies Stitt hired as Griz coach
Missoulian Staff Dec 12, 2014

Despite media reports that Bob Stitt will be hired as the next Grizzly football coach, Montana Athletic Director Kent Haslam maintained that no hire is pending.

Fox Sports first reported that Stitt, who recently completed his 15th season at the NCAA Division II Colorado School of Mines, would replace the retired Mick Delaney as head man of the Griz program.

"To be honest, I haven't got anything I can announce right now," Haslam said. "The job has not been offered to anybody right now. When the time is right, we'll certainly make an announcement. I know everybody is really antsy for a decision."

So about 4 days later (on the 16th) that there was a press conference and it was made official that Stitt had been hired. I hope it doesn't take that long this time. It'd be nice to have it completely settled and announced before the weekend.

From what I am hearing it should be but I primarily posted this to show the Haslam pattern.

Maybe the press conference is the "Friday" rumbling we've heard, but I'm sure Haslam would deny that too.

I went to bed last night convinced all involved were on board with Bobby as the new coach and wake this morning to, well , a shit show. We tell the offensive lineman to hold their water and wait for the snap of the ball. Maybe the news media should have held theirs and let it play out. I’m still confident that Bobby will be the new coach but I was confident of that on Tuesday. All this extracurricular didn’t need to happen.

Yeah this is an excellent point maybe post this article to Amie’s so people can see this is just Haslam speak. However calling the article “completely false” I think qualifies as a white lie if Hauck is indeed hired.

I hope Haslam and other jokers do not "fail to approve" now just to save face for his statements on it not have being offered yet

Something about this smells. I think there is a booster and likely an egrizzer with an agenda. First of all a booster told Haslam that their donations would dry up if Stitt was renewed, then Stitt was let go. No sooner was he let go then reports coming out saying Haslam was talking to Hauck. That was suspicious in and of itself. How could anyone but Haslam know so early on who was being interviewed. Soon after that reports came out that Hauck was the leading candidate "Per sources." Now it is being reported that Hauck got the job, none of this is coming from Haslam but rather some anonymous so called "source." It's all Hauck Hauck Hauck, no other interviews, no other considerations, just Hauck, Bobby Hauck, Bobby's back, Bobby ball is back.

It seems to me that someone behind the scenes is controlling the narrative behind this process and has an agenda to bring Hauck back at all cost. All other valid, competent, qualified candidates be damned. All we want is Hauck, someone bring back the good ol' days. Make griz football great again!

Not exactly a puppet but he allowed himself to be influenced by a wealthy and powerful booster. I think once Stitt's contract was not renewed that same booster has been pushing Hauck to both Haslam and the media.

The booster's probably a flat earther too.
