I will say Ellis was NOT afforded even 50% of the route tree. Why? Who the f... knows. A simple curl is one of the easiest routes to catch a ball and get the defense reacting... I believe Ellis will jump another level if the scheming removes its head from its assh.... Ellis did resemble a "one trick" pony with the heavy reliance on the "go" routes. The defense leaned that way and he was still able to do a pile of "torching". IMPOSSIBLE to do without a superior skill set and wheels to spare... :egriz:

EWU fans remember the freshman EH pulling the freshman rock of not running out of bounds after a catch with 10 seconds left and no time outs and letting clock expire in 2012. He'll have another chance on the red carpet this year with a far better QB getting him the ball.

Kemajic, I do remember that error, you could tell he was trying to make the huge play instead of getting out of bounds. The EAG/GRIZ game this year should be a barnburner.

You are a real sweetheart. This is what you wrote in error in a previous post regarding the touchdown catches of C. Kupp and E. Henderson,

So, you provided the numbers for both players and now I think I know what your argument was. Henderson had 43 receptions and 14 touchdowns (43/14=3.1). So Henderson scored a touchdown every 3 catches which is outstanding. Kupp had 93 receptions and 21 touchdowns (93/21=4.4). So Kupp scored a touchdown every 4.4 catches which is also great, but not as impressive as Henderson. From this I would say Henderson is more explosive and his touchdown productivity is higher than Kupp. I assume you would agree.

Does this ratio make Henderson a better receiver than Kupp? I don't think so. Like I said, next season will tell. See you in Cheney Lambda.

That is a joke. Henderson is a damn fine receiver, no doubt - he is not better than Kupp by any stretch of the imagination. Kupp has the best hands in the Big Sky and likely the FCS. What's more, he put up those numbers as a Freshman on a team loaded with talent at the WR position - certainly more talent than what Henderson has to contend with. Montana's receiving corps is a bit of a one-trick pony in that regard.

Since you don't seem to be a real "numbers" guy, and like to use your vast qualitative knowledge of football to evaluate talent, look at some film of Cooper Kupp. He catches everything, blocks well and has great football IQ. All intangibles that made him an All American as a freshman. Yes he goes vertical. That is one of the ways he made the griz secondary look silly. In all fairness, Ellis Henderson had big game against EWU.

Since you brought up the prior year (in which kupp didnt even play in) to tout a semifinal game, I'll refresh your apparent short term memory. ... we have played in more semifinal games.

HONESTLY: There is incredible talent at WR for both programs. Kupps numbers are simply undeniable and they should be given that they have a scheme that fits their talent. Plus, the Defense didnt tackle worth shit, making them Cheney boys look like WR gods.

Henderson is a true playmaker. I can only image his numbers if coaches adjust and give him 10+ catches a game. #7 is an offensive coordinator wet dream. UM should adjust what we do to our talent not force our talent into a scheme that makes our HC most comfortable.

Looking at these two WRs for how they could be on the next level and I choose Henderson everytime. He does less with more. Stats are not the end all be all.

Interesting conversation yesterday on ESPN during NFLPA practice program about the 96 underclassmen who have declared for the draft this year. Polian (sp) stated that agents were robbing these players selfishly as most have very little chance of sticking in the NFL. They were stating that the players are given a draft analysis before declaring. If a player isn't rank as at least a second round pick they should stay in school.
