Bracket Buster

What's with Tinkle on TV tonight. He's afraid to play Pacific. Not happy with it at all. Acts like it's going to be a loss, that's sure the way he came across. No toughness there that's for sure.

He said that? Or is that your spin on it? I hardly think Tinks is afraid of Pacific.

NO, I listened to him and he didn't say anything close to that at all. That is all Ronbo speak.

More like he didn't want to have to deal with a non-conference game in the heart of conference season. He doesn't like the Blockbuster game at all, and it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING SCARED OF PLAYING PACIFIC. And there certainly wasn't anything said that it's going to be a loss at all. That is more ronbo speak.

Wayne would rather deal with conference games, and I agree with him.

Thanks for clearing that up. Nice of Ronbo to misrepresent once again. He doesn't know much about football, and he knows even less about basketball so he makes it up as he goes along I guess.

How do you know what I know about football? Played from age 12 through college, never coached. What is your experience GB1? Hey he acted scared just reporting what I saw. He wanted an easier opponent that was obvious. I do hope they win he'll need it to help salvage the season. He's taken the best talent in the Big Sky to an 11-10 record. Pretty poor.

Did Pacific almost beat BC before or after the Griz beat nevada?

Before, it was a great game and we thought they were going to pull it off. almost lost our voices, luckily saved enough voicebox to annoy all the wolfpack fans around us.

That is pretty funn Ronbo. Where did you play, what position, and what year? Keep in mind many know who you really are, so don't embarass yourself with more lies Ronnie. As for Tinkle, I read and listened to Tinkles Interview. Tinks never wanted a lesser opponent, and you know full well. He didn't like the idea of a meaningless game in the middle of the conference season, especially given the FACT they were told it would mean TV exposure, which was the tradeoff. The vast majority of the coaches asked feel the same way. Why don't you be honest for once and tell us what your damn agenda is. Obviously you have something against Tinkle. :loser:

Heh, i wasn't sure because looking back i remember really pulling for Pacific on tv because it would mean a sweet 16 berth. I guess I assumed that the Griz were going to pull off that 12-5 upset.

I think Pacific went into two overtimes before losing to Boston College 76 - 88 in the Minneapolis Region game played in Salt Lake City, 16 March 06, played right before the Griz game with Nevada.

I'm not sure if I saw the same TV interview, but Tinkle sure didn't "act like it was going to be a loss" from what I saw. I suspect he is annoyed because this out of place game gets shoved on them during the middle of the conference season and there is no TV. I think ESPN should greatly reduce the number of these games and then agree to televise all of the remaining ones. The non-TV games seem rather pointless. :twocents:

No, you didn't watch the same interview. ronbo watched his imaginary Tinkle interview hearing only what he wanted to hear, while everyone else heard what you did.

No, Tinkle didn't say or do anything to infer he was scared of playing Pacific. That is just more ronbo speak for you.

Tinks is not afraid of Pacific. He knows the game will cut into conference game preperations and since it will not be TVed the Griz gain no exposure. I would venture to guess that many coaches feel exactly as he does but didn't have the nuts to say it. I was impressed with the interview. :thumb:

It's a risk though. There is a potential for reward, but a consequence if it doesn't pan out.

Also - nobody complains about UNC throwing off the conference scheduling. How about the WSU Wednesday/Thursday back to back home games earlier this year?

The BracketBuster game is scheduled for a Friday/Saturday way ahead of time. The BSC knows this before they make the conference schedule. If you want to blame somebody, blame the BSC's ineptitude to come up with a coherent schedule.

And finally, the Griz go to Weber on Wednesday night and then are back home for a game on Saturday. I fail to see how that is a significant difference from a regular old Big Sky road trip.

It's actually the exact schedule for the earlier week. Because UNC was added, another game had to be slipped in. So instead of Cat-Griz normally having one game that week, now Sacramento State comes to Missoula on Wednesday and then the Griz travel to Bozeman 3 days later.

I don't see the argument against the BracketBuster other than Montana didn't play up to potential and now is stuck with a mediocre game. C'mon, next year the Griz go to Pacific for a great game! Both teams have good chances to bounce back for big years.

Now all that's left is you schedule another west coast team for a Wednesday or Thursday night and slip Pacific in on the back end. There are a ton of California teams willing to play the Griz.

I think its a great opportunity the way that it worked out.

Stanford??? I really would like to see a Pac-10 team on the schedule next year. I wish we had another big-name home game like we did last year. That win really drew some attention to the program and helped spark fan support for the season.

Let's get real. The "best talent in the Big Sky" was much more talented last year, and came within a whisker of losing to EWU in the conference semi-final.

I hate to make ronbo sound right and Tinkle sound afraid but...

"Yesterday, when we walked out of the office, the last thing I said is, 'I sure hope we don't get Pacific,' " Tinkle told reporters Tuesday in Missoula. "My first year here, I think in '01, they beat us by 20 (actually 77-64). They've gotten better. They're just a great, great program.

"I know they're a little down this year. Their record reflects that, but they're still a very, very talented team, and it's going to be a big challenge for us."

You can misinterpret that like Ronbo did, or you can interpret it the right way. Wayne Tinkle has quite a bit of respect for Pacific (or actually a whole lot of respect), and I wouldn't act any different. Doesn't show that he is scared of Pacific.

You obviously haven't spent a lot of time around coaches. They talk like that all the time. It has to be taken tongue and cheek. If you knew Tinkle at all the last thing you would say about Wayne is that he is afraid to compete. Please
