Bohl (NDSU Head Coach) to Wyoming

The delusional Bison fans still think he'll coach through the rest of the playoffs.
News this morning on the The Craig Bohl football show. He said he is going to be the coach at NDSU through the playoff run, however long or short that might be. Big distraction for them, but better than him leaving in the middle of the play off run. Rumor has him getting over a million/year. The only reason I see him taking this job is the reports of Wyo moving to the Big 12 must have some validity.

It might be another stepping stone for him, but you don't have to be a math major to figure out the move.

NDSU: 5 years @ $400k = $2.0 million
Wyoming: 5 years @ $1.5 million = $7.5 million

I wouldn't be surprised if he makes one more move even before the 5 years is up in Wyoming though, if he can get them in a couple Bowls someone might come knocking again.

For all of those that say Wyoming is a coaching graveyard keep something in mind. People always said USU was one too. Everyone advised Gary Andersen not to take the USU job, he did, got us winning and now is the coach at Wisconsin.

If you can turn around a USU, Wyoming, or UNLV the BIG offers will come. These guys know that and that is why they take the chance. Of course the $$$ doesn't hurt either.

Not much new, other than a time for the press conference:
ABC News from Fargo said:
North Dakota State head football coach Craig Bohl says he's taken the program as far as he can and it's time for someone else to take over the helm of the two-time Football Championship Subdivision winners.

Bohl is expected to be hired as the next coach at Wyoming. The school has scheduled a news conference at 7 p.m. EST Sunday "to make a major announcement."

Bohl appeared Sunday morning on his weekly coach's show on KXJB-TV. He said he planned to travel to Laramie, Wyo., on Sunday and added "there is no perfect time" for a coaching change.

It's not clear whether Bohl will continue to coach NDSU in the FCS playoffs. The Bison defeated Furman 38-7 Saturday in a second-round game.

Bison athletic director Gene Taylor did not return phone messages. School officials say he planned to address the media Sunday afternoon.

Much longer article now posted at ESPN.com

North Dakota State coach Craig Bohl will continue to guide the team though the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs even though he has taken the job at Wyoming, the school's athletic director said Sunday.

Gene Taylor said Bohl told him he accepted the Wyoming offer after Saturday's 38-7 victory over Furman in a second-round game at the Fargodome. Taylor said he did not know how many assistant coaches Bohl planned to take with him. ...
So Bohl must have cut his deal with Wyoming so he could stick until until the NC game -- if they get that far (and most expect they will, of course ;) )

Be interesting if we hear about the assistant coaches at the upcoming press conference. The Wyoming people must figure any delay in getting organized, and recruiting, don't matter that much since it will surely take more than one season to turn their football program around. The real long-term loser here is more likely to be NDSU.

Doesn't say much for FCS if a coach like Bohl lands at Wyoming. I understood Dennehey to Utah State and even Glenn to Wyo. But Bohl's resume has some big college football chops on it. Maybe he's looking at next years Bison, minus 29 seniors, and decidong now is time to jump.

Recruiting dead period is Dec 16 to Jan 16, so we'll lose 8 days recruiting. Hopefully his recruiting coordinator can get started right away (current NDSU WR coach as well as recruiting coordinator). Heard Bohl offered jobs to his OC, DC, WR, OL, and LB coaches so far.

As a fan of Wyoming, I'm glad the Cowboys are getting Coach Bohl...as a fan of NDSU, I'm sad he's leaving the Bison.

That is all.

And ... two or three years down the road ... when the folks at Nebraska finally get totally fed up with Pelini, something better at the FBS could come his way. (Assuming Bo even lasts that long. :D )

Seriously???! That sucks. First of all for NDSU and secondly because Wyoming is a graveyard.

That's what I was under the impression it was. Unfortunately. I think he wouldn't done better staying at NDSU.

What I find most comical about this whole situation is the numerous NDSU trolls who absolutely INSISTED that Bohl was at NDSU to stay....that his grand plan was to take NDSU to the Big 10....that he was well compensated and had no desire to ever move....that it was his last coaching stop....yada yada yada.

Morons. Now, let's see if their god-given right as the top dog in the FCS remains intact with the departure of Bohl and his entire staff.

Things like Tressel to Ohio State from YSU are as rare as the success Boise St has experienced making the jump. How's the former Richmond coach doing at UVA? Yeah...that's what I thought.

Ban him now before he starts... I'd say EWU's Baldwin will be gone too within a week...

Where, may I ask, do you see Baldwin going?
Boise State. my guess.

You have guessed very wrong. Boise isn't going after FCS coaches. They'd love to have Bryan Harsin, but he comes with a $1 million dollar buy-out.

Didn't read the whole thread, but Bohl and asst are staying in Fargo to coach through the playoffs. Wyoming AD in the press conference announced it and Gene Taylor asked the players if they wanted Bohl to stay for the remainder. The vote was yes.

Rumour has it Bohl has offered contracts to 4-5 asst coaches to go with him and it sounds like they are. The Program will be gutted after this season, but as we all know new coaches bring in their own anyway for the most part.

The problem for NDSU will be recruits. Do they stay at NDSU or move on to other schools. I will bet most of the FCS schools in the Region have been calling all NDSU recruits as soon as the news broke.

It will be a tough road for Bohl, but who can blame the guy, his base pay is doubled from about $350,000 to $750,000 then incentives and yearly increases.

And even those who have some FBS potential won't be hearing from Bohl or his staff. :D http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/420565/

I thought I'd read this, and found it again.

Bohl will owe NDSU a $100,000 buyout per his contract. He will also not be allowed to contact any current Bison recruits. NDSU has 14 verbal commitments for the 2014 recruiting class.

  Wow sounds like the late Griz Nation when Hauck left us... Crazy

Default Re: Bohl to finish season with NDSU

Another tweet from McFeely:

As per @footballscoop, Bohl has offered jobs at Wyoming to five of his current staff at NDSU. Vigen, Klieman, Burns, Standard, Fuchs.
