I just find it so damn hard to believe that a young, gifted athlete from Montana would choose the cats over the Griz. There are exceptions of course, academic programs or legacies. But, why the stress for the young man? Griz want him, Griz will continue to beat the snot out of the cats, and he is s good fit for our offense. Round hole, round peg = easy.

Maybe hes not sure if he wants to spend the week after thanksgiving hunting...or playing competitive football still??? Have you ever considered that?
The week after thanksgiving is the best week to go hunting, you could have the woods to yourself , just you and the game wardens . Could get kinda interesting !

I expect for that weekend to be off for the Griz...... bye week.

Wonder if this news is related? Baylor WR Brandon Brown is transferring there. The Russian lad's high school teammate.

Dalton Daum has been offered a full ride by Montana. He will go on an official visit to Missoula on January 23. He is still verbally committed to MSU but that could change. I just talked to him and he said he wants to weigh all his options and do what's best for him. He came on his official visit to MSU last fall so he won't be in Bozeman any time soon.

I'd take Daum over that Baylor transfer in a heartbeat.

A-men, G-Bears !!! The Baylor kid Brown sounds like a great kid, but he hasn't lettered at Baylor yet and played very sparingly.

Sounds like Daum is a step or two or three faster--not that Mr. Brown is a slowpoke--and Daum could really come into his own as a GRIZ, especially after Jamal Jones and Ellis Henderson graduate.

I like our chances of landing Mr. Daum, especially with Coach Stitt's O, Mike Ferriter as a GRIZ WR coach that would work with Dalton, our #7 stadium in the entire country at any level, No. 1 obviously in FCS, and our new student-athlete academic center now under construction and the upcoming Washington-Grizzly Champions' center. There is a lot happening at UM and I didn't even mention all of the other construction on campus that is currently underway.

If he changes, he changes. That's his decision and he's welcome to it. I won't hate him for doing so.
I swear people get so wrapped in this shit, like it's a matter of life and death. The pearl-clutching on BN is egregious, they've begun to suck the fun out of every little thing and it's stopped being fun.

So 1/2 the posters on BN have become exactly like 1/2 the posters on eGriz? it was only a matter of time...

So they sounded like e-griz when Brekke was considering flipping??? We seem to forget that it is their lives, not ours.

Exactly. I would have love to have Brekke, but every kid has to do what they feel is right for them. I will never hate a kid for following his heart. I can't even think of a cat that I hated. It is just a game. The rivalry adds fun to it if you don't make it life or death. Dean Smith once said that " if you make every game life or death, you are going to die a lot"

Idiots are a drag on all of society. There is a "Hugo Award" winning short story about the future when the dimwits so outnumber everyone else that society starts to crumble. A plan is devised to build a bunch of rockets and advertise free vacations to Venus. The stupid people would not know that Venus is 600 degrees and has constant sulphuric acid rain so they would be all-aboard and the problem would be solved. Time for building some rockets...

Wombat Nation is so obsessed with Coach Stitt, they finally realized, on their permanent recruiting thread, that hey, wait a minute:

This is some crap. What's the deal with you guys? Intimidated by some brand-new coach, and then posting about it on the recruiting thread?
Oops!

Griz have just gone from Cliff Hysell to Don Read. I remember a Joe Douglass quote when he came from Oregon St. "I caught 10 passes all year at OSU. I just caught 10 passes in this game!"

changing of the guard

For Daum, just based on stats of MSU vs what's CSM did under Stitt;

At MSU he could expect to put in a few years worth of ST duty and work his way up to having seasons of 30-40 catches and 300 to 400 yards and a few TDs. That's what a handful of MSU receivers saw this year.

With Stitt at UM within a year or two he could probably expect to be hauling in 40 to 50 passes (if not more) per season and winding up with a wider range, possibly between 600-800 total yards and 5 or more TDs. He'd only build from there and post better numbers as his Griz career goes on.

Daum said on the bozeman tv news that msu was hoping he would play WR as a true freshman.
