Bobby keeps talking about how this team listens to coaching, wants to improve, prepares, and plays hard

As I was listening to Bobby in a recent interview, saying these things about the team, again, I was reminded of my playing days and preparation. I too just listened to the coaches and did exactly what they told us/me to do. I completely trusted them and their advice. I didn't look at the big picture of the other team. I just did what I was told and prepared to do in practice and in film. Oven in particular seemed to be saying, "We just listen, prepare, and do what we are coached to do", or something like that.

In watching the interview, I was reminded of how little I knew about the big picture or the opposing team overall. As a defensive player, I recall knowing almost nothing about the other team's defense. I just listened to the coaches, practice what they wanted, and did and executed what I was told and taught. Pretty much in my own little world. In the game, that's all I did. Just focused on my own little world on every play, made sure I didn't make a mistake, and played as hard as I could. Most of the time, everything worked out for us, and for me.

Any other former players want to weigh in on this? Anyone else? All comments welcome.

the truth finally comes out - you didn't learn a damn thing about football when you 'played the game' :)

I learned to listen to the coaches. That’s what I still do. I read what they say. I listen to their interviews. I talk or otherwise communicate with them from time to time. I go to qb club. I go to some practices. I talk to insiders and others at practice. Much of what I know about the Griz comes from that. And talking to some players, parents and former players. Some of my friends on egriz do some of this too, and we exchange info.

If you knew little about the other team when you played, then you had shitty coaching.

I knew everything I needed to know about the other team. And I corrected a key typo in my original post, correcting from offense to defense. We had great coaching. Thats why we lost only 2 games while I played and were picked as the top team in the East my junior year and 2d best in East my senior year.

I know we don't agree with everything others say here, but come on folks, you don't have to be a-holes every time. It's like f$%cking junior high school sometimes. If you don't agree, make your counter point and move on. Worse than a really shifty sewing circle.
