BOBBY BALL TIME!

where do people get these gross misperceptions? I mean, that's not even CLOSE to reality. We ran the ball FOURTEEN times the entire game. That doesn't count three of Johnson's four "carries" which were scrambles on pass plays, nor does it count Rohrbach's "carry" on the botched punt/safety. Thirteen called running plays--and they went for a net 64 yards (4.64ypc). And only THREE times did they run the ball twice to start drives. And guess what? two of those three times they got first downs on the 2nd carry. On the flip side, we THREW the ball 38 times, completing only 20. So, that's not exactly a 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust offensive approach, is it?

What are you arguing? I only say that when we tried to run the ball, we went nowhere. I realize we didn’t run it all that much but when we did run it, it was right up the middle. Of course except for when the QB runs the ball. Those aren’t designed run plays. Who gives a fvck how many times we ran the ball. The point is EVERY time we sucked at running up the middle behind this OL.

yes, that's why those 14 called running plays averaged 4.64 yards per carry. Because we sucked every time we ran up the middle.

If we can't run successfully, we might as well quit playing this year because we will go nowhere in the playoffs! 1 and done isn't fun either! This O-Line will do their jobs to ensure this team's Running Backs can run! Now they won't always be good, but we got to get the running game started now! Anyone who thinks we will go to the NC with no running game is nuts....

the primary reason the GRIZ couldn’t run the ball Saturday:

The defense.

It’s hard to run the ball when you only hold it 17 minutes. The GRIZ D gave up far, far too many third downs and couldn’t get Idaho off the field.

Get some stops and rhe Griz run game gets going.

I would say giving up drives is A reason the offense couldn’t get into rhythm. However, PRIMARY reason? The defense held Idaho to 3 points in the first half. The offense/st gave up one safety and the refs extended a drive that resulted in the only td. Happened again in the second half too. I think the primary responsibility for running the ball is always first and foremost the line and running backs. We can blame play calling all we want, but when a run is called it’s up to everyone to execute.

Kind of hard to get a break on defense when you’re offense can’t sustain a drive. Having defense on the field for 3/4 of the game isn’t a recipe for any team to succeed even 2-deep. We’ve leaned on our defense far too much the last year and a half. We have weapons at every position on offense. It’s time for someone other than Bergen to be a game changer. Mitch is dependable, but someone else has to step up and get separation on third downs. Lucas looked the part for 4 games. Now he’s looking lost and too much in his head.

Very good point. You've made several of them.

It’s time to look for some continuity with the running game. Why would we not try a fullback / halfback set with Ostmo / Knight? I feel the line would love this and it would help a struggling QB fine his way again. It appears we could be pleasantly surprised with how successful this could be. Get the ball into our playmakers hands. Our running game could be our strength.

I think the coaches abandoned the run game in second half because they worried about running out of time with Idahos extended drives. Biggest play in the game to me was the onside kick. If Griz take their first posession of the second half for some points it is a differsnt game.

I came away from this 'game' with one conclusion: With the bye week and a week to prepare for Idaho, that was the most magnificent waste of two weeks I have ever seen.
As for the 'playoffs,' it won't be a factor at all. Neither will my shouting at the TV be a factor. Thats as close at the Griz will be to the playoffs. Watching on TV. They might want to use this time to work on their grades.
If Bobby and crew assign 'running the "M" 'for every foul up, the trail will be a trench by the end of the week, lead of course by the coaches.
Trivia: 1995 in Moscow, Vandals won 55-43. Griz also won the NC that year.

bobby ball of old was fake punts and fg and trick plays...they always worked we have the horses we need to do that again.
