Bob Stitt has Earned a New Contract

Personally I am all for extending him regardless of this weekend. 3 years if he wins this weekend and somewhat playoff success. I would give him 1-2 if he loses this week depending on how badly.

It is no secret that our team is trending in the right direction. All without our starting QB and now we're rolling with a freshman QB that was supposed to be the backup and he's looking poised to be the future and break some career records here.

I think changing coaches now would be devastating. No need for another rebuilding phase. We are finally reaping the rewards of the last one. The arrow on the Griz is very green and has no indication of slowing down unless we make drastic changes.

Agreed.

Agreed. This team has gotten better as the season has progressed...we ARE trending upward. Unlike the team to the East.

Bump

Yep. True story. They’d won 5 of 6 at the time of that post, including a win over NAU. Your point?

Oh, you know... Don't act like you don't.

You also agreed that the cat game did not matter and his contract should be extended anyways.

I mean, he admitted he was wrong, right?

But even then, I’d wager it’s better than being stuck in that Dan Moore-sized *whole*.

Good thing AZ didn’t make the decision regarding making a coaching change.

It wasnt losing the Scat game that changed my mind about Stitt...it was the WAY we lost it that changed my mind. It was 2016 rinse and repeat. Not sure why that is so hard to grasp but y’all just keep on doin’ you...

Yeah. I believed that BEFORE the Scat game. AFTER? Not so much. Nice to know you’ve never had a change of heart, 27. I swear I’ve never seen a group of people work so fucking hard to prove somebody wrong. You all should seek counseling. I’m dead serious. I appear to be one of the few who’ve moved on from Stitt.

Yeah. I believed that BEFORE the Scat game. AFTER? Not so much. Nice to know you’ve never had a change of heart, 27. I just think it's funny. It's the offseason. Misewell enjoy it.

Oh yeah, it’s a riot. I make a post about virtually anything and get to start the stop watch counting the seconds until someone responds calling me a Stitt lover or a Hauck hater, derailing virtually every thread. It’s a blast. Get that counseling. Seriously.

Stitt liker.. Semore lover! We all know it... Your always like daaaaamnnnnn that's a sexy defensive game plan every weekend! :)

AZ - perhaps you should just back off your defense a little. While I was never a great Stitt supporter it may be entirely possible that you were correct in your initial premise that a coaching change isn't the ultimate fix. So you can just save up these gotcha posts for 3 years and then really come back hard. And for the record I think it is time for some of you (JCU for example) to quit trying to extract your pound of flesh from AZ and move on.

Two posts I made on Nov. 12. Nailed that one.

My view is that a contract now combined with a Cat game loss and not making playoffs, would cause Haslam to be run out of town. Why take the risk. He could quietly give that message now, without offering or announcing, I suppose. Not sure why that would be a good idea at this point either. The coaches don’t need a vote of confidence at this point of season. Can’t imagine Stitt would be planning to take a new job now, and decide to stay because he got a contract this week as opposed to next week. The coaches must know that Stitt won’t be fired if Griz beat Cats and (presumably) make playoffs.

"Anyone who thinks it will be easy for Haslam to offer a 3-year, or even 2-year, contract if the Griz were to get clobbered by the Cats and not make the playoffs, doesn’t understand the Griz fan base and the amount of pressure that would be out on Haslam. Nor do they understand the importance of the Cat game to much of the fan base and virtually all former players."

You see, whether Bobby is the answer to fix things is not the issue here. The problem with re-hiring Stitt is that he has an 18-year history of mediocrity as a head coach demonstrating that he was NOT the answer, and should be replaced. If Hauck fails, it will have no bearing on any decision to give Stitt more time to Fcuk-up the program more than he already did. As has been so eloquently stated .... "doing the same thing, but expecting different results" is the definition of insanity...... which is what re-hiring Stitt would have qualified as.

KNOWN: Bob Stitt was incapable of returning Montana to a national elite team

UNKNOWN: Whether Bobby Hauck is capable of returning Montana to a national elite team
