I'm finally chipping away at watching the replay of the game while I get caught back up with work. Just like last week Jesse Ginn had a tremendous series at a key point, I thought I'd come on here quickly and point out how key Tully was right at the end of the first half.
USD is facing a 1st and goal, handoff to Bouma who was running downhill most of the drive. Tully 1-on-1 in the gap hits him hard and fast in the thigh/mid-section area, wraps up and drives him down for a 3 yard gain. Bo was in great position to stop the carrier dead in his tracks.
2nd and goal is fade pass, no play by Tully but a good break-up by Dennard
3rd and goal is a check-down or swing pass to what appears to be a wide-open USD player, instead Tully closes fast and drops him for no gain. USD is forced to settle for a fieldgoal.
That cost USD the chance to have 4 more points on the board, and they lost the game by 4 points. Bo's effort on that series wasn't the key factor to the win, but it was clutch at a time where it was really needed.
