Bo Tully's goal-line stand at the half

I'm finally chipping away at watching the replay of the game while I get caught back up with work. Just like last week Jesse Ginn had a tremendous series at a key point, I thought I'd come on here quickly and point out how key Tully was right at the end of the first half.

USD is facing a 1st and goal, handoff to Bouma who was running downhill most of the drive. Tully 1-on-1 in the gap hits him hard and fast in the thigh/mid-section area, wraps up and drives him down for a 3 yard gain. Bo was in great position to stop the carrier dead in his tracks.

2nd and goal is fade pass, no play by Tully but a good break-up by Dennard

3rd and goal is a check-down or swing pass to what appears to be a wide-open USD player, instead Tully closes fast and drops him for no gain. USD is forced to settle for a fieldgoal.

That cost USD the chance to have 4 more points on the board, and they lost the game by 4 points. Bo's effort on that series wasn't the key factor to the win, but it was clutch at a time where it was really needed.

And don't forget the batted down pass in the end zone to seal the deal! He gave up the pick just to make sure no one caught the pass.

Not only batted it, but batted it completely away from the oncoming receiver. I remember when Vince Huntsberger batted down Furman's last play Hail Mary, only he batted it right into the Furman receiver's gut, who took it in for their only points of the game.

Tully is a good football player. he makes some mistakes and has had some pretty ugly games over the years, but in the Griz' secondary, who hasn't?

(I wasn't there by that point in the replay - ha)

Great batted pass at the end, didn't try to pick it and risk the ball bouncing off him, doesn't hit it down towards the WR. Great stuff. Anyone that doesn't think Bo has made leaps and bounds improvement this year is blind.

I haven't seen anything to complain about this season with Bo, he's had some nice plays and nice games. But I never played the game so what do I know.

ha ha oh yeah :thumb:

Some have had stuff to say, didn't one poster want his "tax money" back for Bo, or something? Ha, some of the stuff on here is nuts.

Yes, can't remember which poster that was, but that is in the running for worst post of the year.

Richard Cranium. He can be quite the dick head at times.

Did anyone see the field goal attempt when Tully got in there too quickly and the kicker actually kicked it behind Bo? You could tell by his reaction that he wanted to have that play back.
