Undefeated.
Walter Payton winner.
National Championship loser.
He just got wildly outplayed by the guy who should have won the Payton. He threw for 200 2 tds and ran for 135 and 1 td. Tommy did he could
Outplayed? Nah. Both guys played excellent and you could argue either guy should’ve won. I think Cam did benefit from having a NFL level WR. If you exclude Cam’s 64 yarder, he only got 3.7 per attempt. He passed well but his numbers got boosted thanks to 2 incredible Lance catches. I’d argue Tommy had a more impressive performance as NDSU’s defensive was so keyed in on stopping him, specifically his legs, yet he still ran for 135 with an avg of 9.6. With that being said both guys had career days, without a doubt. He just got wildly outplayed by the guy who should have won the Payton.
Mellott had a 54% completion rate, not a career day, his accuracy was exposed. Miller 86%, many for first downs. Mellott got most of his rushing yardage in the 2nd half when NDSU was playing soft with a lead. They wanted to keep the clock running.Outplayed? Nah. Is Cam a better quarterback, yes. Is Tommy the better player, yes.

What kind of defense allows a QB to beeline straight up the middle 64 yards worth! Osweiler commented several times Cats not responding well defensively in the box, they got torn apart!Outplayed? Yah.
I think if they play 10 times it would be 5-5. Lance was the difference. Not sure they blew it. I think NDSU was the better team.

Obviously you didn't read this board -- which IS eGRIZ after all -- last year. It's not like we're flamin on their board like the bub trolls did here. Not sure which thread to post this in, but JFC you guys. 15 hours later and there are a handful of new threads taunting MSU for the loss. I'm as happy as anyone, but this shit is just embarrassing.
The cats went 15-1, blew our doors off, won the conference and lost the NC by 3. They had the Walter Payton winner, coach of the year and freshman of the year. As bad as you all want this, the sky isn't falling over there. Some of you had the same prognostications when Troy Anderson graduated.
The more you guys mock the cats, the more you sound just like 'em. Flame away.......
