not as far back but, I was a huge cain, fastings, and delvon anderson fan.
As far back as I can remember is Larry K, however, Gary Kane, Roger, Delvon, Kevin Kearney, Darren Engellant in I think 1991-92 was my favorite team of all time. We ended up at the Grantree staying next to some of the UM players in Bozeman. As a 13 year old it was probably one of the best childhood memories, as Delvon was an awesome guy and very friendly. Every time I see someone walking around with a pick in an afro, I think of Delvon before the game getting ready to go beat the cats. Also, a guy that probably not many remember and a guy that was easily one of my top five favorite Griz players is Eric Jordan. I remember giving him a call as a kid when I was in Missoula, just to tell him he was my favorite player. He was also very gracious to sit on the phone and have a conversation with an 11 year old kid.
I also miss the days of UNR, UofI, and BSU. There were some knock down drag out games against UNR in the early 90s. They had some big European player I think that was just nasty. Idaho also had some dang good teams. There was nothing better than hearing Udaho in Dahlberg. For me, those were the glory days!
That was back in the day that we would drive over from Helena on a Thursday night and drive back after the game a lot. Good stuff. Probably why I still like to drive over and back for a basketball game by myself. It recaptures some of the old time nostalgia, even though the atmosphere is nothing like it used to be. If the Griz win tonight, I will be going over and back for both games in Missoula if they keep winning.
