Bison vs Griz will be all time Rubber Match

BTW, how can there be no nickname?
UND lost their Fighting Sioux nickname after a long struggle to keep it!
The NCAA made an example of some, UND, allowed others Florida State U as an example.
Obtaining approval from the groups represented was crucial to keeping the nickname and mascot alive.

What kinds of food do North Dakotans traditionally eat? I read somewhere that they grow and consume large quantities of sugar beets. Is that true?

Wow, that's gnarly! Pretty soon, they will make them get approval from a buffalo to keep their nickname. Was this part of when Stanford changed from the Indians to the Cardinal?

I heard that too. In fact, there was a Bizon guy on here a while back who said farming was a huge deal in that region. He even said the farmers only have time to come to the football games when it's nice out. I guess they have to harvest more when it rains because the crops grow taller.

You know that has always confused me. Did they ask the Cardinal if that was okay and he signed off on it? And why would a Cardinal be able to make that kind of a decision? You would think it would have to go higher up to the Pope.

No, but there are certain times in the fall when we will consume bear meat and then recycle it for shipment to food banks in western Montana!

Totally. It's also weird because they "claim" to have no religious affiliation.

You guys feed human waste to those less fortunate? Way to stay classy, buffs.

They now run their tractors by remote control so they don't miss any games! ;)

It is only for the Montana Ewe alumni! We are offering jobs in North Dakota for the less fortunate!

That's pretty cool. You should inform some of your Bison brethren. One guy was swearing up and down that the weather affected the farmers around the area, and thus the FB attendance, and that is why they decided to play FB in the gym.

What is this Montana Ewe?

The Cardinal in Stanford refers to a color only it has no religious connotation or bird type association!

So, when Stanford changed to the Cardinal, why didn't you guys just change to a color instead of the Thunder Bisons.

Are we talking about Marshall or North Dakota University, here? Oh, and I think it's spelled Bizons.

I thought so too, but I'm thoroughly confused. I thought Shep said the University of North Dakota State was the Bizons and the North Dakota University was the Thundering Bison Herds because they made them change from the old name. Also, does the thunder thing have to do with the weather and why they play in the gym? Shep, what's the story?

How exactly do they grow grass indoors? They must have installed a massive array of grow lights? I would hate to have to pay their electric bill! Seriously, do they just assemble the basketball court on top of the grass for basketball season?

Great questions. I think they overseed it like a southern golf course in the winter. If Joe Paterno can coach an Ivy League team for almost half a century, these guys must figure it out somehow. Keep in mind, we're talking about some damned good farmers here.

They have real grass like the University of Phoenix stadium in Arizona. That way old dogs like me can still chew on grass! Our electricity is provided by wind energy so it will be net positive on energy costs in 2015. You will have to come back again in 2015 to help celebrate. With the positive cash flow and the very low carbon impact maybe we can help with your meal money for your trip. ;) P.S. That is not uncommon for people to swear up and down about the weather. We have several facilities in addition to our dome for basketball games.
