Qvale does graduate this year. Selvig returns for his SR season next year. I too was concerned about our bigs, but after seeing Reader, Ward, and Hutchison play this year, I am less concerned.
Even on a bad knee Hutchison is great on the boards, and solid defensively, which can only get better has he gets healthy. Reader has a very high ceiling, which we will see develop starting next year. Reader covers a lot of space, agile, athletic, and a very good scorer. I expect him to be our next great big after Selvig graduates. Ward is undersized, but rebounds well, has a nice mid range game. I just wish he were taller, because teams do take advantage of his defense inside. He is combination of both Hutchison and Reader, with some work with quickness could be a SF.
Tinkle has a full cupboard at guard for the next 4 years, with our new recruits this year (both guards). Aside from Riley Bradshaw (Corvallis) I do not see him pursuing any more guards next season. I am venturing a guess he starts filling big man needs next recruiting season. I am sure he has a few young bigs (currently HS Sophomores and Juniors) in mind, and making good progress. One of my friends in CA told me he has the interest of many CA bigs, in part to the pipeline, as well as Qvale and Selvig's development. Tinkle is getting a very good reputation in CA, OR, WA, and even as far east as WI and MN.
I will not be surprised come 2012 season we have a few more rather good bigs, 6'8" plus. Keep in mind there is young kid in Montana that is only a sophomore (name escapes me now). He has the size, but is much too young to really evaluate as to what kind of collegiate future he has. (feel free to name drop here folks.....I cannot remember his name).
