Outstanding story Colter. You capture well Montana's status post-Selvig and the subtle effects coach Schweyen is having on her team, month by month. She's done an incredible job with this team, particularly in light of the devastating injuries that have hit so many players. We (nor the Big Sky) should brush off the fact that Montana was in second place before Sophie Stiles went down; I know how hard it hit the team.

So, in light of the brush-off by voters in all-conference awards, Schweyen's statement regarding McKenzie Johnston (and her incredible game today) is apt: (emphasis mine)

“I know what kind of competitor Kenzie is and I really felt that she deserved to be first, second or third teamer and I told her before the game that I would be curious to see how she responds,” Schweyen said. “I think she went out there today and showed what kind of competitor she is. That was fuel for the fire.”

I look forward to how this win becomes a building block for the Lady Griz... particularly with some impressive young talent coming in next fall.

This was a very good synopsis with the exception of another injury that wasn't mentioned. The Lady Griz took a huge hit to momentum when mid-conference season they lost freshman Sophia Stiles for the remainder of the season. They ended up losing something like 7 of their next 8 games after that blow.
