this kid is a high school senior. two stars on rivals, and while rivals is more generous with the stars than scout.com, i have a lot more faith in the accuracy of rivals, based on their historical assessments of our recruits. i've got a hunch this kid is pretty good; also that portland state is quiety putting together a solid recruiting class.

The Oregonian has pulled down Pulitzer Prizes for breaking news awards, but in this instance they tried to make the news, not report it.
One of their sports columnists really went over the line within days of them being accused, considering that the charges were dropped, they didn't pay out a settlement, and the victim's credibility ended up being suspect. So, yes, I think that it was reckless disregard for facts.

The Griz have also recently offered Sterling Carter a 6-0 combo guard from Franklin High School in Washington. I believe Franklin is in or near Seattle. I believe Carter has only two offers right now from Montana and Pacific, but is also being recruited by Portland State, Colorado State, and Montana State. He has a visit already set up for Pacific, but Colorado State is his favorite right now.

Nathan Crabtree, a 5-foot-10 shooting guard, is trying to be more aggressive in taking the ball to the basket. Crabtree came off the bench and averaged 11.4 points for Poudre. Playing for the Colorado Chaos Blue, a highly competitive AAU club team, since April, Crabtree, Maag and McAuliffe have taken their respective games to Houston and North Carolina. Today they will leave for the Hoosier Shootout in Indianapolis before traveling back to Texas next week and then going to Las Vegas later this month. Hectic? Somewhat. Fun? Definitely. It's been a lot of fun," Crabtree said. "I mean just getting the chance to travel to all these different places and seeing all this athleticism from the teams you're playing against - it's really been an eye-opening experience." Crabtree has talked with coaches from Denver, Metro State and Montana State.

Griz are looking at 6-6ish combo forward Alex Walker Sioux City North High school. He is more of a power forward right now who can step out and hit the three. Good scorer, but is more noted as a rebounder. As a junior he became his high school's all time leading rebounder. Right now I believe the Griz are the only D-1 school who is recruiting him, though I do not believe he has been offered. He does hold quite a few offers from D-2 and NAIA schools though right now.

The Griz have offered 6-9 Eric Hutchison PF/center from Longview Washington. He also holds offers from Loyola Marymount, Eastern Washington, and Montana State, and is being recruited by 6-8 more schools. He averaged only 8.3 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game, but had an outstanding summer and is becoming a very hot property.
Weber State gets two players from same High School
St. Mary's senior duo Blake Davis 6'5" 210 lbs. and teammate 6'7-1/2" 240 lbs Byron Fulton have made their decision to attend the same school for the next level. Both Davis and Fulton will be key to this year's Knights team, Davis at the shooting guard position, and Fulton down low in the post. Weber State will be a great place for both as athletic as they are, they have a chance to play on a championship team. Phoenix St. Mary's High center Byron Fulton and swingman Blake Davis both committed Monday to Weber State to play basketball. The seniors helped the Knights last season reach the Class 5A Division I final. Fulton, 6-foot-7, averaged 13.1 points, and Davis, 6-5, averaged 12.5 points last season. The Knights now have three players committed to Division I colleges. They recently brought in 6-4 guard Demetrius Walker, who moved from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., for his senior year. Walker committed last month to Southern California. Point guard Bandon Jenkins should be the fourth Knight to commit sometime before the November signing period. With so many four-year, college-bound players, coach David Lopez said he doesn't expect chemistry to be an issue with his team this year. "I don't see any egos on this team," he said.

Emmanuel Addo a 6-8 forward, from Minnesota has committed to Northern Colorado. Addo is a great pick up for No. Colorado, he compares quite favorable to Divaldo Mbunga of the 'Cats. Addo was originally also recruited by the Griz, but did not make/invited for a campus visit -I do not know which. This also impacts the 'Cats because No. Colo. and the Cats are recruiting a couple of the same big men.
