Well then stop coming on this board and praising a guy that hasnt even got you over a five hundred record. Stuckey is amazing but until you guys put a team around him then I can say whatever I want about you eagles.

:jack: whatever dude....

Great comeback!!!!!

Grizbacker is one of the few Griz fans that doesn't view the entire world through maroon colored glasses. Hope to see the Griz in Flagstaff on Tuesday. Go Eagles!!!

I did not realize that stateing that an amazing player like Stuckey has only lead his team to a 14-14 record was wearing maroon color glasses. Last time I checked, that was a fact. Correct me if Im wrong here but are you not 14-14 with the best player in the conference?

So now Stuckey is "amazing" and the "best player in the conference"? I thought it was Strait? Looks like those in the know don't agree with you Swill. :crybaby:

But you know what, I prefer team ball too, and would be making the same arguments if I were in your shoes. The difference between you and a reasonable fan Swill, is that if your guy won MVP, I'd congratulate first, and maybe bring a little smack later, but only if neccessary. You come out, guns a blazin - which is understandable because you're evidently young. So we'll forgive you. But at least be honest and wear your Maroon colored, Homer rimmed shades with pride. :thumb:

I've watched every team in the Big Sky conference play, I've interviewed every coach and I've takled to several players and Rodney Stuckey was the best player in a walk. He is simply at a different level.

It wasn't meant as a comeback. I just didn't think your post warranted a lengthy response.

Just to set things straight-Rodney and Andrew played on the same
all-star team. Rodney is a great person-he and Andew are good
friends. Rodney is a freshman in elgibility only-he sat out last
year beause he didn't have the grades to gain admittance to EWU.
Nothing aainst him-I hope he winds up in he NBA but I saw he had
a 3.5(what's he taking at EWU?-cow chip making) EWU has underacheived-I have to wonder about Burns-this class was suppossed to be RG's best. Betinger looks like he has declined.
Eagles or sparrows?

hog, RS had the grades to get into EWU(he was there all last year). He didn't have the core classes to get cleared through the National Clearinghouse. I'm not sure if third place would be considered as underachieving especially as young as this team is...

If EWU can find someone better to replace Bouterac next year I'd predict a 20+ win season and maybe a conference championship. If not, it's probably the same old Eastern.

If he had the grades but not the core classes then the Academic Advisors and his HS Coach did a piss poor job. That is standard operating procedure for anyone planning on going to college, let alone an athlete.

The same old Eastern that finished no worse than 2nd in the regular season or BSC tournament from 1999-2004?

I wasn't too terribly dissapointed with this year. A .500 season and third place in the BSC, about what I expected. I'm very excited about the next couple of years with the young players we've got on the team and some really great players coming in next year.

Good luck to you guys, and hope to seeya in Flagstaff!

Sorry, by 'same old' I was talking about a much more recent slice of history. Big ups to the eagles as well.

^P.S.: At the time I wrote this, there is no mention of this in the Spokesman Review online, but there is in the Missoulian. I know Spokane loves their Zags (as long as they're good) and for the most part could care less about EWU, but it's a shame this isn't mentioned yet in Stuckey's local paper.

I'm calling it right now... One way or the other, Rodney Stuckey will not be playing at Eastern Washington next year... Period.

You never know, he could completly tear it up in the conference tournament and lead Eastern to a title. However, I completly agree with Swilly on the acount of not being biased. Fact is fact, and the truth is that Stuckey did not lead his team to a winning record.

The Spokesman and the local media actually do a decent job of covering Eastern athletics. After all there is a lot to compete with here; Cougs, Zags, Vandals, Chiefs Hockey, Indians Baseball, Seahawks, and Mariners. I don't know what time this story broke, but it will make it in tomorrow's Spokesman like it should.

When we made the dance two years ago, a GO EAGLES banner hung right next to the huge GO ZAGS banner displayed on the side of Deaconess hospital alongside I-90. You saw similar displays all over town, which made us blue bloods proud. Althoug personally, I still like the small home town GO EAGLES BIG SKY CHAMPS sign off of S.R. 904 on the way to Cheney. Kind of a Deliverance message to opposing teams on the bus ride out from the airport or Spokane. :thumb: (insert banjo music here)

Those signs still hang there to this day...

...and some say that when the moon shines just right in early March you can still see the hobbled spectre of Alvin Snow dragging his pivot foot across the road to protect the banner of the underacheiver...

Mwahahahaha!

I'm not sure what you're talking about.....the article is in today's online version of the Spokesman. And I think they do an outstanding job of covering Eagle athletics. For the most part, I would say their coverage of EWU is about on par with GU. There are daily blogs on what's going in Eagle athletics and I'm not sure what more they could do to cover individual games???

Now, of course GU is going to get more publicity, but come on.....their a top 10 team so it's not hard to figure out why.

I know UM is used to getting all the coverage in their local media, but when you're in a state with no less than 4 Division I schools and multiple Professional teams there's a little bit more to cover than just one school.

Oh yeah, here is the link to the article for those of you that have access.
