Check EWU's strength of schedule and compare it to the Griz. The good thing about it is he has three more years to tear up the Big Sky. Go Eagles!!!

I am impressed with him no doubt, however you might want to use pencil when you are filling his name in for 4 straight MVP's.

Does the name Jason Harris ring a bell? He was the man last season in the BSC and named by a ton of national publications as the preseason POY in the BSC. He didn't even make honorable mention this season. In fairness to Harris, he had the grade issue, some injuries, and the team chemistry seems messed up.

The point is, no one knew jack about Stuckey before the season and no one knows who will step up next season. I hope Stuckey stays healthy, the team plays together, and he continues to have success.

Injuries can always be a problem. But I don't think grades will be too much of an issue - he's running something like a 3.4 GPA right now and has a really good work ethic on and off the court.

Montana played a great game in Cheney and really embarassed us at home, complete break down. I think we really rebounded from that loss with some good wins by blowing out MSU and then going down to Pocatello and beating ISU. We're playing pretty well right now.

The Griz have a great team this year, but keep in mind you finished conference play only one game ahead of us - you definitely lost some games you shouldn't have (Weber, ISU) - so I'm not buying into this notion that you guys are going to be unstoppalbe in the tournament

Don't put the cart before the horse.....you might have some tough games ahead of you. :twocents:

How on earth did you come up with unstoppable or any other comment about the tournament from my post. I was commenting on Stuckey and that is all. As for your blowout of msu, I don't think that was any great accomplishment the way they have played of late. I don't think any game from this point on is a lock for anyone, starting this weekend. If everything was decided, we wouldn't be having a tournament. You may not know it but there was a day when the regular season champ was the one going to the NCAA's. I prefer the tournament. If yo have a young team yo uhave enough time to make the post season should you get off to a slow start.

  Well now, I do not expect Duke or UConn in our Bracket.  But if they hang on for a couple of rounds we may introduce them to the team concept.

Eagle1 Stuckey is one hell of a player, but how sure are you that he'll be there for three more years? If his grades are good he could jump up and sit out a year, still have two years at a big school. It's not like Eastern Washington was his first choice.

Oh yeah and how was their conference record and record in head to head match-ups with the Griz? Nobody cares if you used to date a hot chick when you're sitting at the table with a fat chick.

The following interview was taken from Thursday's Spokesman Review

Eagles star said he's not going anywhere
Q and A with Eastern Washington's Rodney Stuckey

Eastern Washington basketball coaches began raving about Rodney Stuckey when the 6-foot-4 guard from Kentwood (Wash.) High School signed with the Eagles. While Stuckey sat out last year for academic reasons, the coaches kept saying wait until next year.

Next year has come and is almost gone and the point guard isn't as good as advertised – he's better. But despite breaking new ground (first freshman ever named Big Sky Conference MVP) and records (EWU single-game and single-season scoring records, both conference records for freshmen), Stuckey remains humble and flashes a million-dollar smile when talking basketball.

He took a few minutes after practice to reflect on his first collegiate season.

Spokesman-Review: What were you expecting your first season, especially after sitting out a year?

RS: Just to play, man. I love basketball. I just wanted to come out and do what I do – play hard every day. Taking that year off really helped me as far as getting stronger and getting my grades up.

S-R: Did you feel pressure coming in?

RS: I knew there was a lot on my back. I like that. I can step up and take care of the situation.

S-R: What about the 45-point game?

RS: It was fun, but we didn't win – that was the bad part about it. I was just feeling it. I was 14 of 21 from the field. I was out there picking and choosing my shots, and they were going in and I was getting to the free-throw line. I just couldn't miss.

S-R: How would you describe your first season as a point guard?

RS: I learned a lot of different things. I learned to handle the rock more and read defenses. That really helps. Having the ball in your hand all the time is pretty fun. But I look forward to going back to wing. I like to run.

S-R: So, how would you characterize your first season?

RS: It was just fun. I like playing with this group of guys, the coaches are great. The season was a roller coaster. We had some ups and downs, but that's how seasons go.

S-R: And, about those rumors you'll transfer to a more high-profile school, where are you going to be next year?

RS: Here. I ain't going nowhere. There's no reason for me to transfer. Why do I need to go anywhere? Basically, that means sitting out another year waiting. If I'm a good enough player, people will find me.

Plus I've heard his girlfriend plays hoops for Eastern too, and has a couple years of eligibility left.

Sorry Griz fans, looks like you're gonna have to put up with him for awhile longer. At least until the NBA comes knocking.

Good grief. Doesn't anybody think he'll go pro, and soon? If not this year, no later than next. This league can't touch him. Only Stuckey can stop Stuckey in the BSC. One more year of seasoning and he can test the waters. Somebody will drop some cash on him. Won't they?

Kalm,

So he is smart enough to say the right things. Show me any interviews with kids who say they are transferring when asked? I am not referring to deals where a coach was fired either, that isn't the same.

Grizbacker - Twist it into whatever helps you feel better about the situation.

Swilly - You are diffinitely a smack talker and are easy to hate. We shall see. So far nobody is going to the tournament thats why we have to play the games. Go Eagles!!!

Its just a shame that such an amazing player has to miss out on the NCAA tournament...

This is hastily thrown together, so I'm sure Gym Rat will correct me is I'm wrong, but your best six opponents:

Stanford
UW Milwaukie
Oral Roberts
Boise
LMU
St. Mary's

EWU's:

GU
UW
Marquette
USC
SIU
SanDiego

and we also played Boise.

Swap our non-conference schedules, and suddenly our record looks like yours :thumb:

I am not trying to twist anything, I really am not. I am just pointing out what typically happens. if he stays, good for him, I like watching him play. One man can't beat a team as we showed you twice already. We have the best recruiting class in decades coming in next season so I don't think we are going to run and hide from the Eags. See you in Flagstaff! :thumb:

That's assuming we beat PSU tomorrow. They are playing pretty good ball right now. And, with the exception of the UM embarassment, so are we, so it should be a good game. The fact that PSU will be playing without Morrisson won't hurt. It's too bad he couldn't keep his emotions in check, but I'm not complaining.

Ranger,

Morrisson deosn't deserve to be playing so don't feel bad about it. Looks like we are going to have a rematch. Shoul dbe fun. No offense, but I hope your game with them goes 9 overtimes! :thumb:

I agree. Real stupid move he pulled, and his team will probably suffer because of it. I think we should be able to beat PSU a third time this year, but you never know. And hopefully third time will be a charm for us if and when we face you guys down the stretch. :werd:

Grizbacker is one of the few Griz fans that doesn't view the entire world through maroon colored glasses. Hope to see the Griz in Flagstaff on Tuesday. Go Eagles!!!

Maroon colored....I was kinda sad when UM changed their colors to Maroon and Silver. I kinda liked the yellow and brown. :thumb:

I did not realize that stateing that an amazing player like Stuckey has only lead his team to a 14-14 record was wearing maroon color glasses. Last time I checked, that was a fact. Correct me if Im wrong here but are you not 14-14 with the best player in the conference?
