And if SUU wins at home (and I think they will), then it's back to worrying about an at-large bid for the Griz. Offhand, I'd say the Griz are a lock as long as they win against MSU. Seed? No Way, IMO. In fact, as it stands now ... I see virtually no chance that the Big Sky will get a top-seeded team.

If NAU beats SUU and we beat MSU, which is a real possibility, we will have 4 teams tied for conference lead at 6-2.
In this scenario would all 4 teams be conference champs? That's kinda silly

Yes, but only 1 would get the auto-bid. Don't understand why anyone would care. Many conferences have had this type of scenario for years, including the Ivies (ties, not teams that didn't play each other). Seems to have worked well for a long time.
If one or more of those two conference loss teams gets left out of the playoffs it's not because of their conference record, it's because of their overall record as at large selections are not based on where teams place in their respective conferencesEriul said:PlayerRep said:Eriul said:I love the big sky but we really have to split it up into 2 divisions

Yah I get the auto bid thing but let's say that does happen and one of those x-2 teams is left out of playoffs(pretty likely). It's kinda a punch to the gut as you don't see the playoffs with the same record as someone else in the conference.
And really does the word "champion" really mean anything if everyone gets it?

We play in Bozo like we did today and we will do some damage in the playoffs.

I agree here. It's nice to be conference champs, but if we win I think we are in the playoffs and that's all that matters. I'm not sure if we are playing well anyone wants to see us come to town (except the bison I'm sure). It's similar to when we made the semis (yes we did) as the offense started to roll. But first thing is first. FTC!
Being the conference champion does not ensure anything other than an auto bid. The only thing that assures a home game is being seeded. Of course in the first round there are no seeded teams so half of all teams playing in the first town obviously have to host a game but again, that has nothing to do with winning your conference. It is based on who bids the highest and UM can typically outbid anyone out there.zirge said:AZDoc said:behappp said:At this point, I could care less - all I can think about is the whooping we need to put on the scats - then let the chips fall where they may.

agree......the point of conference champs is to assure us with at least 1 home game and that matters as well for those of us blessed to be able to attend.

That would be a good game. However, doesn't the selection committee try to avoid conference match ups in the first round?PlayerRep said:grizindabox said:ronangrizfan said:SUU would kick UM hiney, sorry to say rose colored glasses fans

Maybe the selection committee will send SU to Missoula over Thanksgiving weekend, and we'll just see who kicks ass.
