Put together a couple of lists of my top picks for Politically incorrect, Sexual and WTH... Feel free to come up with your own lists.

The top Politically incorrect nicknames
1- Frisco Coons (Texas)
2- Compton Tarbabes (California)
3- Anika Halfbreeds (Alaska)
4- Coachella Valley Arabs (California)
5- Dickenson Midgets (North Dakota)
6- Hereford Whitefaces (Texas)
7- Pittsburg State Gorillas (Penn)
8- Benson Mighty Bunnies (Nebraska)
9- The Alabama School of the Deaf Silent Warriors
10- Arkansas School for the Deaf Leopards
11- Yuma Criminals (Arizona)
12- Freedonia Hillbillies (New York)
13- Centrailia Orphans (Illinois)

I briefly worked at Yuma High school; the Criminals mascot is a positive, pride inducing mascot for the school (along with the black and white striped shirts.) The name comes from the historic Yuma territorial prison located a few blocks down the street. The prison was know for housing a few the famous Wild West era no-gooders.

" the prison's facilities have been occupied and used by various groups. After Yuma High School burned, the High School Board rented four structures and used them from 1910 until 1914. The school athletic teams became known as "The Criminals". "

Hoopiston Area Corn Jerkers (Illinois)
* Yuba City Honkers :thumb:
Could no resist a comment ... since my HS, right across the river in Marysville, California had a big football rivalry with the Honks. The term, for those who wondered, refers to Canada geese -- Marysville/Yuba is right in the middle of a major flyway.

Anyway, you might not believe some of the anti-Honker chants the Indians (I know, blah) came up with. FWIW: For a week before "The Game," the police had special patrols on the two bridges between the towns to turn back obvious trollers. :)

I’m partial to the Evergreen State College Geoducks. Took a campus visit there and it was beautiful.
Campus...not so much the geoducks!
A bit of information (for those who thought this was some weird kind of Duck): This might be right in there with "Banana Slugs." The geoduck is, in fact, the largest burrowing clam in the world.

According to records, the one shown in the photo is pretty small -- they can easily grow to 3 or 4 feet, given time. I've read that it is considered quite a delicacy, and cost plenty in a restaurant (when you can get it). And, no, I've never had it, so I don't know how good, bad or indifferent it is as a dish.

Neither one of my two favorites really fall into the right categories but they are pretty hilarious.

the Albuquerque Isotopes, a Triple A baseball team associated with the Colorado Rockies, depending on who you ask, the name is either from an episode of the Simpsons or its related to the nuclear industry in New Mexico. I prefer the Homer Simpson story myself.

University Northern Colorado intramural basketball team, The Fightin Whities, a group of Native Americans, Latinos and a couple whities, decided on the name as a spoof over the controversy of stereotypes of Native Americans and mascots.

Yes - that brings back memories. That occurred on campus during my under-grad.

I’d have to say that I would be intrigued by a matchup between the Fightin’ Whities and the Compton Tarbabes.....Just sayin’

Both my boys went and played here.... A little unusual.... "The Cobbers"

Proud Cobber here - hard to defend the dignity of an ear of corn in a hat, however. 😂😂😂

Also a Cobber. The story is that the college was established "out of town" in what had been a cornfield. Hence the name. p.s. you're right about the ear of corn !

Here in New Mexico (the land of the grammatically illiterate) we have the Pojaque High School Elks and Elkettes. Not funny or clever, just cringe-worthy.

We also have the Moriarty Fighting Pintos, the mascot of which has been changed to a pinto horse but originally was a pinto bean because of all the pinto beans grown in the valley.

Well, "elkettes" is probably better than "cows."
