Best 2025 Away Game

Providence is a very nice stadium. Not perfect for football, but better than all but two stadiums in the conference. And yes, you can take beer to your seats.

And the fact that it's right on the light rail downtown in a fantastic city loaded with breweries and great food makes it a must visit.

Sac is good as that can be a pretty fun visit. We're tacking on 4 days in wine country during our visit there this year.
When I went to Sac State 3 years ago, we turned it into quite the trip. We took an overnight layover in Vegas on Friday and spent the evening at dinner and gambling, then got up first thing in the morning Saturday and flew into Sacramento. It was a 7:30pm kickoff so we got to the hotel, checked in, had dinner at Cheesecake Factory which wasn't too far from campus, then went to the game. Sunday morning we got up bright and early and drove down to Santa Clara and went to the 49ers-Chiefs games since we're all huge niners fans, and then flew out of San Jose Monday morning. Enjoy wine country! There's plenty of it around Sacramento!

It was temporary previously but Hillsboro is there current home stadium. They were pushed out of Providence Park after the renovation, which I think was around 2018, to optimize it for soccer.
So yes, just like I said to tgreseth, Hillsboro has not always been their home field, it did use to be Providence.

Great trip. Sorry about my Chiefs beating up on your Niners that day, though. If I recall correctly, Mecole had 3 TDs in that game.

Ya the Niners got up early and things were looking good before Mahomes started picking us apart. Eventually a snow ball turned into an avalanche. It sucked that my teams went 0-2 with me in attendance, but I was never really able to enjoy the Niners game as I was still enraged over the Griz getting screwed by the refs. Really put a damper on the experience.

Sac State normally has a lame football environment but that may be different this year with their preseason hype. The weather in Sacramento in late October is close to perfect though, the airport is great and if you have more time you can go to the Bay Area or Tahoe.

Good info and thoughts. I'm trying to catch at least one away game per year.

I'm still traumatized from 2019 Sac St game, no way I'm going back there despite being an easy trip. Really hope Griz win this one.

Pdx St is tempting with game in city. Easy logistics and should be good Griz fan turnout. Looks like stands are protected from rain?

Typically try to plan a trip that includes few days of mountain biking, so thinking ID St this year.

I live near Portland and the last Griz game I saw in Providence Park was an utter Griz sh!tshow. It was in drenching rain and cold. I swear the Griz players quit. Never saw it before or since. It was embarrassing to watch. That was before the renovations which definitely improved the stadium with more covered seating. The goviks.com site shows what is the Griz game date as "Providence Park Placeholder - THIS IS NOT A TICKET" but the Parking section mentions Providence Parking for the Montana game. It is safe to say it will be at Providence. Hoping for nice weather but November in Portland is iffy at best.
