How is their stadium and game-day atmosphere?I’ve been to those top 3 and I can definitely say they’re all pretty friendly environments for visiting fans. I’m planning to go to Portland State as that’s one of four Big Sky stadiums I haven’t been to yet. If you’re looking for best game though, I would say that’s Sac State.
Best for THIS fan will be Idaho State...since I am very likely to be there! Here is the Griz 2025 away game schedule.
10/4 @ Idaho State
10/25 @ Sacramento State
11/1 @ Weber State
11/15 @ Portland State
Considering all things football related, which away game is the best for a Griz fan and why?
I kinda liked Weber’s stadium. The visiting stands are carved into a mountain which is kinda cool. Plus they just renovated that side of the stadium since I was last there and it looks much nicer. How is their stadium and game-day atmosphere?
Im pretty sure Hillsboro was a temporary replacement and in the city is where they’ve historically played I thought.Pretty sure the Viks game is in Providence Park aka Civic Stadium near downtown Portland so you’ll still not have seen their home field which is Hillsboro Stadium
That said, Providence Park is a great place to watch football…I had the pleasure of watching Oregon State curb stomp the catz there in ‘22
We normally do games at ISU when we play there. We have relatives there to visit and Pokey is about the same drive distance for us as Missoula.Best for THIS fan will be Idaho State...since I am very likely to be there!
It was temporary previously but Hillsboro is there current home stadium. They were pushed out of Providence Park after the renovation, which I think was around 2018, to optimize it for soccer.Im pretty sure Hillsboro was a temporary replacement and in the city is where they’ve historically played I thought.
What makes it the best experience? Just curious.I've been to Idaho State, Weber State, and Portland State. Of those three, Portland State is probably the best experience, I'd say especially this year since the game is being played in Portland at Providence Park. Weber State is another great environment as well. Idaho State was just "meh".
Watching a game in Providence Park just felt like a "big time" FCS stadium. Big stadium, good seats to watch anywhere, plus bonus of buying beer and being able to drink in the seats (at least I recall being able to do that). Watching a game at Weber State is good as well... although that damn train horn they blast after touchdowns is god-awful haha. Plus the tailgating is kinda non-existent there. What makes it the best experience? Just curious.
