I know the chances are pretty slim, but nonetheless wondering how likely it might be? I am wondering with lack of DT and no additional confirmed DT signings yet, could we be changing to 3-4? The GRIZ seem to have an over abundance of quality LB's as well. Barring this signing day bringing in DT help, as of now it looks like our personnel might be better suited to the 3-4 defense than the 4-3. How is our current personnel suited for a change to 3-4 (numbers aside)?
My hope is we add the needed DT depth, and don't have to make any changes in our base defense. Right now if we were to have any injuries at DT, it would make things pretty difficult for our defense. DT's/NT's take a beating by the nature of the position. In a 4-3 it is nice to have 4 or 5 guys in depth. In a 3-4, 3 or 4 guys in depth.
I am not too concerned about our LB's being able to make the transition. They are all versatile and pretty athletic. My concerns are more with DL being able to transition. Are our DE's versatile enough to effectively play 3-4?
I hope to hear some opinions from those with a defensive background.
