yes NDSU success has elevated the young people of north dakota high school teams and their efforts, I salute them for that.

Home grown talent.
Montana- 40 kids from in state
NDSU- 24 kids from ND

Mabey they only used to have like 5 kids from ND and that's why they think the gap is closing.

I am definitely not saying ND is a great high school football state, but some of the discrepency in those numbers is going to be due to overall population alone. Common sense tells us if you have more kids to choose from your chances of finding some good ones increases. Is it entirely due to that..no, but it is a factor. Overall MT has better HS football than ND, the results of the Badlands Bowl over the years proves it. NDSU gets probably 3-5 guys a year out of the state, who by the way more often than not turn into great contributors. To try and field a DI team comprised mostly of instate kids in a state with as low a population and as rural a population as ND has would be impossible. NDSU does a great job of getting the best the state has to offer and an even better job of developing these kids. Our roster last year, as most years had the most players from MN, the second most from ND and third most from WI. That has been the formula even way back in D2 days and I'm pretty you won't argue with the results of this recruiting formula. This is not smack when I say I think you guys would be better served by cutting back just a bit on instate kids...do you as a fanbase believe this as well? or are you happy with all the instate kids? Really looking forward to seeing some Griz fans in Fargo this fall.

Holy snot! I thought MT was still pretty close to ND in pop. When the hell did MT get over a Million?

IMO, you are right on Herd. MSU and UM fight over the instate kids in a population of 1M, but the best kids typically leave for Boise or Oregon or Wash. There really are not enough kids to feed two D1 schools. The NDSU formula sounds perfect. MN has almost 6M residents and only UMinn. That leaves NDSU with a lot of quality kids. I assume you kick UND’s butt in recruiting in most sports except for Hockey. We lean towards Northwest recruits outside of MT, in a population of about 11M, but we compete with UO, OSU, PSU, WSU UW, EWU, UI, BSU, UM, MSU and ISU for those NW kids. NDSU really has a good thing going for them.

Minnesota has agreements with neighboring states to provide lower tuition for Minnesota residents to attend public colleges and universities in those states. This is called reciprocity. Typically, non-resident admission fees and tuition are reduced (or eliminated) if you're a reciprocity student.

So, Minnesota players basically cost the same as North Dakota players. I don't think Montana has an agreement like this with any neighboring states.

I have noticed the last couple years that the Griz and Cats are making some offers to MN kids as well. I'm pretty sure you guys offered a Rfr lineman of ours out of Lakeville MN by the name of Zeimer and we also have a few recruits that I know had Cat offers as well.

I would not count on us beating NDSU at too many recruiting wars in MN. About the only advantage we have is the atmosphere of an outdoor stadium.

And that you don't have to live in North Dakota...

I have been to 38 of the 50 states and no state worse than No Dak! Seriously the shit hole of the United States.

I've been in 48 of the 50 states and I can think of half a dozen off the top of my head that are way worse than North Dakota.

I've been to two World's Fairs, an ICBE convention, a European Fecal Standards & Measurements Board meeting in Zürich, and a pig-fucking contest, and I've never seen anything shittier than Fargo.

This year u beat us getting Greg Menard but last year we beat u getting Mike Ralston. Of course we've since lost him to the silent killer, Homesickness. He's also trying to walk on with the Gophers.

NDSU is a regional school now, 50/50 Minnesota.
NDSU has beaches and 1000 lakes 45 minutes away.
North Dakota especially Fargo is a pretty dam cool town, relax.
