Bad Refs

No, they really don't, seagrizluver. The officiating was one-sided. That's a given. Montana still had opportunities to overcome that by making plays and didn't. But that doesn't change the fact that it's really, really difficult to overcome seemingly biased officiating.

It's over. I am begining to look forward to NEXT YEAR. NEXT YEAR. NEXT YEAR.@@@@@@

My sadness is that even these lousy bobcat posters on egriz could ref better!

My vocabulary just got bombed and I think I'll call old Growler to cheer me up.

Griz will go to the NIT I would guess.

I wouldn't count on an NIT bid. The BSC is not exactly known for rolling up a ton of NIT bids. Is it too late to go to the WAC??

Not surprising, considering what UNC got away with the last two nights, the Big Sky had to apologize for not awarding a 1-and-1 situation last night:

What your saying is they should have become supermen to overcome it(which I think they did to stay in it by the way). It affected the game more than I have ever seen a game affected before and to say we should have overcome it doesn't make sense logically. That's like saying a surgery patient should just "overcome" the fact that the surgeon just nicked your artery and bled you out. They took us out of the game every way they could otherwise that last NON call charge would never have been called a block. That was the proof the fix was in so to speak.

The Griz didn't lose because of the officiating. They lost because they didn't make enough plays.

But it's damn near impossible to overcome such lobsided officiating on the road. When two different sets of independent national commentators say the officiating is one-sided, you gotta believe it was one-sided.

Tough to make plays when your key players can't breathe on the opponent without getting a foul called. That last foul on Cherry was pretty indicative of the night IMO. There were a lot of bad calls and it did change the way the game was played and their ability to make plays.
Exactly! :thumb:

POOR OFFICIATING TO SAY THE LEAST. BUSH LEAGUE....FULLERTON WHAT DO YOU SAY NOW?

Why would Fullerton want to change anything? The Big Sky has the worst football officials and they just proved themselves as such on national TV for basketball.....he should be proud
But, officials do not shoot the ball nor ignore rebounding efforts....nor go for the last shot in a half while the other team is home, favored, and on a roll.....

My point was that at about the 6 minute mark, unc got as tight as a coffin. The stress was getting to them, and the Griz failed to take advantage, turning it over and missing shots. Yes, I agree with you: it would have taken a Herculean effort to overcome the one-sided officiating. But that chance was there for the taking and it was for that reason that the game was lost. The officiating just left zero room for error.

You've said this in another thread and I don't undertand what you're trying to say. Are you saying they should have shot the ball early in the possesion and given UNC who was on a roll another chance to score in the half? If so you don't understand basketball or sports for that matter.

And that is why it is called HOMERED! Zero room for error is not what a game should EVER be and that is why it was stolen from us.

Please explain why you wouldn't hold for the last shot....

On that we agree. Believe me, I think we feel exactly the same about the officiating.

And yeah, I don't get LA's point about holding for the last shot of the half, either. Every coach in America would have done that. Hell, teams do that when they're behind double digits at the end of the half. Why give up a possession, which is what you do if you shoot too early.

When the odds are stacked against you but the defense is playing well, stop the batshit crazy holding of the ball for the final shot...I have watched this year incredulous as to how many teams do this and it fails in around 65%..yes, I am saying go for the shot, possible foul, or go home....you, my friend, are drinking the kool aid....going for the last shot in a half is simply a way of saying, we think you are the better team.....amazing how many coaches fall for it, but not the greats, generally....

You are right. And to make it worse, they missed the front-end of two one-n-one free throws during that time. Don't underestimate how costly our poor foul shooting was all game long.

No, it says, "We're going to score the damn basketball and not give you an opportunity to do the same".

Name one coach not named Paul Westphal that would take an early shot. Phil Jackson, Roy Williams, Bobby Knight, Coach K, etc, etc, etc would all hold for the final shot. You may be drinking a spiked kool aid. :D
